Hi I'm Shane
I'm a Mormon
I'm 30 years old and have been happily married for 8+ years. We have a 3 year old son and my wife is 7 months pregnant with our second (also a boy). I went to law and business school and currently work as General Counsel for a large medical practice in Mesa, AZ. Prior to that, I worked as a legal consultant in the board sports industry. The things I enjoy doing most are snowboarding and backpacking (particularly in foreign countries).
Why I am a Mormon
I'm a Mormon because the Church and the gospel it teaches gives me a greater sense of where I came from, where I'm going, and the knowledge that my family can always be with me. I've also developed a deeper understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Through modern day revelation to living prophets I am assured that we are not forsaken or forgotten. For many, the Church is peculiar and I would agree. That peculiarity is what makes this organization special and sets it apart from all others. I believe there must be opposition in all things for growth to occur. The Savior himself was peculiar and persecuted for it - I don't believe His Church should expect any less. I know that Jesus Christ lived and died for all of us, that he calls prophets today as he did in ancient times, and that through them, he shares his word with his children. Joseph Smith was one such prophet. Through him the Lord brought forth The Book of Mormon and once again restored His Church to the Earth with the authority to act in his name. All this gives me hope and calms my fears of the unknown. While I don't know everything, I know enough to know that I am a better person because I am a Mormon.
How I live my faith
I could always do more, but I live my faith by doing the best I can to live a clean and virtuous life. I go to church each Sunday, provide monetary support to meaningful non-profit organizations, and volunteer my time during the week to set up appointments, and Church activities.
