Hi I'm Melody

I'm a Mormon.I have been amember all my life. I grew up in Utah but now live in Arizona. I like traveling the country & visiting .

About Me

I love to make greeting cards, & do some scrapbooking..just learning this part. I have 2 grown children who are not active in the church. I also have 2 grandsons. I was a single mom for several years, until I met a wonderful man & married. We have no children of our own. Parenting was kinda hard for him as he did not have any children of his own. We have had our struggles with raising kids, & adjusting to being married to new partners. He was also married for many years to another. Just because you are married in the Temple does not mean your marriage is gonna work out. It takes alot of work to keep things going....Alot of prayer & compromise. We love to go camping & fishing especially taking the grandkids with us..I love to cook so trying new recipes is a must..This last year I have been doing alot of alternative cooking. Using my solar oven, dutch oven & BBQ..We practice alot & Iwe're getting better prepared just in case there comes a time when this would be the only way to cook meals. I volunteer at the cannery every week in the wet pack. Here they can maple syrup, catsup, salsa, pear sauce, applesauce, beef-chicken- & pork chunks, different jams yum..what a blessing it has been to work there..I have made so many friends there. the spirit there is so peaceful, loving & geniune caring for others. Our cannery is so important it helps so many people who are out of work,or just need a helping hand. I see the lives of people change with their service helping others. I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ, God His father, & in the Holy Ghost. I want to live my life so I can return back to my Heavenly Fasther's presence. To live with Him, for eternity. Jesus Christ gave everything for all of us, His atoning sacrifice is for all to recieve the blessings of it. By obeying the commandents we will be able to see God again & recieve eternal rewards. For now I am content to recieve blessings on a daily basis. Thru prayer I can talk to my Heavenly Father daily, seek guidance and answers to my prayers & questions about daily activities, where I shoukd go & what should I do concerning my family, my life, my future. I know the gospel is true. I see many great things which have come by way of the gospel. Jesus is the foundation of my life I only hope I can keep the covenants, which I have made in the Temple so I can recieve all the promises which can be mine in full. I love the gospel I know this is Jesus Christ's Church which was restored by Joseph Smith..I know the translation of the Book of Mormon was inspired and was written for us now in these days for our use. If we will read this book with a prayful heart & mind, answers will come. I am so grateful for the gospel which has guided me throughtout my life, whether good times or trials.

How I live my faith

I work in the library of our ward.. Some may think this is a boring calling but I think its great !! Everyone comes in needs something & I can help them out. Also I work with home prepardness teaching classes training people food storage, canning, and how to deal with emergencies which may arrise in their lives. I take cooking classes each week at the cannery.I can then teach others what I have learned there. When I volunteer, there is such a feeling of love for everyone..This is how I think Jesus would want me to be & do. I start each day with a phrase..When someone asks me "How are you doing?"I answer "It's the best day of my life !!! How about you?" Alot of people get caught off guard when I say this, and ask why am I so happy ? I think if you start the day with a good attitude, that sets the temperment of the day to begin with..Sometimes bumps happen but with the right attitude you can get right back on track. I have been a member my whole life, but I have several friends who are not members. I answer questions friends have about the church, but if I don't know the answer I will tell them I will find out & get back to them. I love people & learning about their cultures, foods, & beliefs..My husband & I went on vacation this year and did alot of family history along the way. This has been really great to find out about my biological dad and his family as he died when I was only 1 1/2 yrs old.His famly lived on the other side of the US, so there wasn't much contact with the cousins. Now I feel comfortable calling or writing to them, what a blessing genealogy has been.
