Hi I'm Christy

I have two adopted kids. One has autism. I run my own business and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to my husband since 1998. After years of infertility treatments, we decided to pursue adoption and have been blessed with two amazing children. Our oldest, a boy, has autism. Having a child with special needs has truly blessed our lives. He has helped me become less judgmental and brings joy to the lives of so many people. I love to spend time with my friends. We love to hang out and craft, knit, chat, eat and watch movies. I've been blogging since 2004 chronicling the adventures of my family and my personal endeavors. In 2009, almost 13 years after graduating college, I finally started using my degree when a friend and I started a business doing marketing and social media strategy. I love the flexibility of owning my own business so I can still take the time for my family when it is most needed.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know this is God's plan for me. I gained a testimony of the gospel when I was a young teenager and ever since then I have been fully committed to living according to the commandments. Once you know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true, the desire to serve and share can't be taken away. I'm so grateful for the experience I had in my youth that led me to my testimony. Reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it is essential to gaining that lasting testimony of its truthfulness. Sharing that with others became my focus and when I was old enough, I served a full-time mission to Guadalajara, Mexico. It's not always easy being a Mormon, but there is no way I can deny that the church is true...so it's worth it.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is more than a Sunday thing. I live it every day of my life. In our family we have scripture study and family prayers each day. This is in addition to any personal study we each do. On Sundays, I play the piano for the children's class. I love hearing their sweet voices singing the words and stories from the scriptures. I enjoy being able to share my talents in this way. For many years I also taught the 10 & 11 year old girls. Being able to share my personal experiences and testimony with them was a true pleasure. They also taught me so much and their spirits are so strong! They are all going to grow up to be amazing women some day.
