Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, a wife, and a mother of six children. My children range in age from 6-17. I love this time I have in my life to teach, learn, and grow with them. I love my days that swing dramatically from reading Dr. Seuss one moment to researching colleges the next. We also manage to sandwich in football practices, piano, dance, and school work somewhere there in the middle. I love music, attending institute classes, and even dabble in a little bit of writing. I am a blogger. I find it a great way to keep a record of our growth as a family. It's exciting to see just how far we have come in the few short years since I began. Like most moms I wish I exercised more, ate healthier, and had all of the answers for my teenagers, but I don't. And that's ok. We are loving the process together and to me that's what life and family is about.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised with the knowledge that I was a daughter of God from the time I could comprehend such a thing. Both of my parents were active members of the church and I was raised in a family that included eight brothers and sisters in southern California. Many years ago my husband and I decided to continue their pattern of discipleship with our own children. It wasn't long into parenting that we realized what courage and strength we would need to continue on this path. Following our parent's patterns simply wasn't enough anymore. A witness of the divinity of the Book of Mormon would be necessary to stay the course. Necessary and very personal. I quickly took to studying these truths out in my mind and in my heart. Over a short period of time the witness of it's truth came as a sure answer that could not be denied. I currently live as a product of joy brought about in my life through living the teachings of Jesus Christ. My desire is that my children will find that same joy. Living his teachings and partaking in the fullness that His gospel has to offer has blessed my life and brought happiness that will bless our family forever.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in every area of my life. Whether I am at the school working in the classroom or hanging out on the sidelines of my kids football games I try to just be kind to those I come in contact with. Being a team mom or a classroom parent helps me to feel connected to those in my community. I currently teach the women in our church on Sundays and also participate in helping the boys in our area to become Eagle Scouts. 2 of my own boys are already Eagle Scouts with another on the way. I love the process these boys go through to become better assets to our community, better employees, and better husbands and fathers for their future families. In our neighborhood I try to plan socials and events so we can become better acquainted with our neighbors. We are diverse in our faith but we are unified in our love for our families. Our gatherings range from a fall bbq to a spring Easter egg hunt. It's a blessing to meet and learn more about our wonderful neighbors and friends.
