Hi I'm Vickie

I grew up in beautiful Utah but have lived many other places. I'm a Mormon. I love family history research!

About Me

My father was raised religious but added to his Christian beliefs when he joined the LDS church. My mother's family came from LDS pioneers. I was raised to believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior and have tried to pass on those same values to my children and now my grandchildren. Some time ago, my parents began sharing family histories with me and sharing information and pictures of my ancestors. That was it! I was hooked! I have grown to know and love all of my extended family and ancestors through the information my parents shared with me and now through my own research. I would never have known that I had Viking heritage or that my Danish ancestors were related to royalty. Most of my ancestors were just hard working folks like me. I work in a Family History Center helping others research their family lines. It is wonderful to share their successes and joys as they find information on loved ones. Anyone can do it and the LDS church provides many free resources to help.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the LDS church and baptized at age eight. In my teens I realized that it was not enough to simply attend meetings and felt a desire to have a testimony of my own. That testimony came after much prayer, scripture study and fasting. The warm glow of the spirit witnessed it to my very soul. Many times since I have had that same spirit witness simple truth to me, adding to the testimony I began with. From an early age I had set a goal to marry in one of God's Holy Temples. When I found the right young man the spirit witnessed that to me as well. It has been many years now since our marriage but I still recall the great joy of that day we were sealed in God's Holy house as husband and wife. Our love and our family have grown much over the years. My faith and testimony has seen me through some difficult times and situations. Always I have felt the spirit and the Lord's blessings in my life. I will always love the Lord, Jesus Christ, and do all that I can to serve him and share his gospel with those who have not yet had the opportunity to hear it or feel that great spirit of truth that I have.

How I live my faith

I believe if we have faith, our life should reflect that in our actions every day and not just on Sundays at church. I have taught the teenage youth about gospel doctrines in Sunday School. I enjoy working in one of our Family History Centers helping people persue their own family history research. I am building friendships with the sisters in our church as I visit them in their homes. I also visit families in their homes to help them with family history research or questions. I try to be honest, compassionate, non-judgemental and give service to others in need. I believe that as we follow the Lord's example we can become more like him.
