Hi I'm Zack

I grew up in Utah. I paint miniatures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah my whole life. I take every opportunity I can get to spend time with my circle of friends. My hobby is painting miniatures, which takes up most of my alone time. I have found that God gave me a talent to make things, and I feel closer to Him when I use that talent that He gave me. It's also really fun. Whether it's a miniature or making music, when I create things I connect with my Creator.

Why I am a Mormon

At first I was a Mormon because my parents are, but there came a time in my life that I had to decide for myself whether I should go to church. That assessment of my Faith came when I was about 12. I thought long and hard, and prayed to know whether I was following the true Church of God. The answer came in a way that I never suspected. One day I was riding a bike and I crashed pretty bad, I scuffed myself up and my arm was severly broken. Immediately after the accident I was laying on the ground and quickly going into shock. My vision was slowly fading into black even though my eyes were wide open. My family quickly brought me to my dad, who holding the Priesthood of God, laid his hands upon my head and gave me Priesthood a blessing. The moment that he gave me the blessing I could see again, I wasn't in any pain, I had a feeling of peace wash over me, and I knew that everything would be fine. There is no way that situation could have been coincidence. That experience of peace and comfort, and many like that since, have helped me build my faith in Christ and his church. I know that God lives and that he loves all his children. He has not abandoned us on earth to fend for ourselves. He has restored the true gospel of Jesus Christ and the Priesthood (or authority) of God to the earth through the modern-day prophet Joseph Smith. Because those gifts have been restored we can live with our families in God's presence forever.

How I live my faith

I try to take each day one at a time. There are a lot of things that we need to accomplish while we are here on earth, and to think of conquering it all at once to me seems overwhelming. To avoid getting discouraged I really try to focus on what is close at hand. That means that I check myself on whether I'm studying my scriptures daily, talking to Heavenly Father often through prayer, and whether I treat everyone I meet with respect. Those basic things are the groundwork to learning, growing, and increasing my faith in Jesus Christ. A huge part of what I focus on is attitude. :) I understand that there are trials in our lives everyday and discouragement is a tool of our adversary, Satan. Doing those basic things helps me keep a positive attitude and a happy dispostion, even when the times are getting rough. Currently I serve as a missionary and I spend virtually all my time trying to help others feel the happiness and peace that I get from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a Mormon. It is a great feeling to see others overcome their challenges with their faith, and I hope that I can make a positive difference in the lives of everyone I meet.
