Hi I'm Xochitl Samuels (Sochie)

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother or 5 children ages 16, 14, 11, 8, 2 and grandmother to a lovely 2yr old. I'm a current paralegal student, last term. I'm a medical assistant and been in the medical field for over 20 years.

Why I am a Mormon

2010-Even though I was born and raised a Mormon, I strayed off on my own at the age of 15. I ran the streets with children and all for over 20 years just to know and understand that my Father in Heaven never left me, I left him. I'm a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. My sober birth date is July 6, 2006. It was really hard to humble myself, but so far I have never forgot the gospel that I was taught. I guess it is like learning to ride a bike, you never forget where you come from. I now know how important is for me to return to my Father in Heaven. I want to show my children and grandchildren a better way of life. One day, if it be the Father's will, I would like to be sealed to my children. But at least I can teach my children to know the importance of a temple marriage, and the true meaning of life. I'm thankful for the Atonement of Christ, and through him my sins are forgiven. I would like to teach my kids by example that there is a better way of life than what I have taught them in the past. One of the most important reasons why I returned to the church was because I tried to suppress my sins by going to many different churches. I've even learned about many different religions, cultures, shamans etc...you name it, I tried it. But none of them, none of them at all are the as strong as the church. There were many that were welcoming, some not so welcoming, but none of them had the true Gospel of Christ. The order of this church is so organized, the same exactness of the church when Christ was alive, that your heart cannot deny it. The spirit of the Holy Ghost is so strong, there is no way a person with a true and sincere heart can deny the truthfulness of the church or the Book of Mormon. I have lived both sides of the street, and any street person can tell you that, my children and I have lived wealthy, we have lived in shelters, and it may seem like we went from riches to rags, but in reality we have went from rags to riches. This is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

2010-I have to pray on a daily basis, usually several times a day. I have fully read the book of Mormon as an adult and now I fully understand. When I read it as a teen, it did not soak in and I did not have the total understanding. Now I'm reading the Doctrine and Covenants and it get better every day. I love my scriptures, and because if my mother's teaching, I will always love them. One day she was leaving her reservation and my sister and I were worried about her material belongings. She said something that really touched my heart. She said, " As long as I have my scriptures, I don't care about any of my material things. They can have it, they can destroy it, but I have my scriptures." I will never forget those words. Sometimes I'm tired and want to go to sleep from a graveyard shift, but I am still managing to go to church. I'm proud of me. It feels good to to be in church, it is like my battery recharge for the week. I am also reading cool books that are uplifting to me and I love all the church magazines. Most importantly, I live one day at a time. 09/08/2015-It is really hard, but my testimony has grown stronger. I will never let go of the Iron Rod again and I take all my covenants very serious and take what my Patriarchal Blessing very seriously. I really live and practice everything I say.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Xochitl Samuels (Sochie)
The Book of Mormon is a record of my ancestors, of they came to be in the Americas before Christopher Columbus discovered us. The Book of Mormon tells me where and whom my direct bloodline comes from. Here is another way of knowing what the Book of Mormon is. "The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about Heavenly Father’s plan for His children and the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4)." Show more Show less
