Hi I'm Rich Shelton

I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I have a lot of brothers and two sisters and 64 first cousins. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a new father of a little girl. I work part time as a physician and spend the rest of my extra time doing research on another interest of mine, engineering and developing new therapies for heart failure and arrhythmias for the Krannert Institute of Cardiology at Indiana University. I enjoy running, hiking, bike rides, and basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a family sealed for time and all eternity in the temple of God. I never had any serious doubts about the reality of the gospel. However, I have asked for myself early in my teenage years about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the church. I read the Book of Mormon for myself and prayed to Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was true. I received a strong confirming feeling and impression that the Book of Mormon was, in fact, true and that I now knew it to be true. I have never doubted since then that the Book of Mormon is true, that the prophets and apostles are, in fact, messengers from God who speak with our Heavenly Father, that Jesus lives and is our Redeemer, and that our Heavenly Father lives, loves us, and has a plan for us. Since that day, I have had many indescribable experiences that have confirmed these truths over and over again and have been a great blessing in my life. I am so thankful for Heavenly Father's love for me and for the many times he has let me experience that love.

How I live my faith

My life is spent in service, whether it is being a husband and father, working as a physician, working with the boy scouts, working with the missionaries, serving as a home teacher, or fulfilling my callings. I can never forget that I am Heavenly Father's son whom he sent to this earth with a hope that I would always be about His work of helping His children. I hope and pray everyday that I can do that which would help Him most to bring the gospel and happiness into this life to as many as possible.
