Hi I'm Troy

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah, served a mission in Spokane, WA. and now I live in North Richland Hills, TX.

About Me

I have been married to the same beautiful woman since 1990. We have 2 children, one who is currently serving a mission in Colorado. We have varied interests, but following the Savior and His Spirit are the focus of our lives. We recently moved to Texas, a place we had never been, but felt a strong desire to be here. We know that the gospel is true, and by following the Spirit we will find true joy in our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

My family and myself have gone through many struggles, as a family we have been homeless, and well off. I have felt the influence of my Heavenly Father guiding my life through the good times and trials. The one constant in my life has been the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have knelt and asked in prayer, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, that our Savior, Jesus Christ leads it through a living prophet.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve in the church by making sure that the computers and electronics are up to date and functioning properly. I have served in some leadership roles and in many teaching roles. I enjoy helping out with the many activities the youth enjoy. Serving in the Church is a great opportunity to get to know people in my community, to serve my Heavenly Father, and learn more about my Savior Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Troy
Baptism is so important, that even our Savior, Jesus Christ was baptized. And our Heavenly Father is fair. He would not require his children be baptized and not prepare a way for all of them to obey. There are many of His children that will never have an opportunity to be baptized in this life, but He has provided a way for all of his children to obey this requirement by performing a baptism for someone who has already passed on. Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Troy
Yes, but I don't just believe that there is a prophet, I know there is one. Our Heavenly Father is perfect, and the things he does are perfect. He loves all of us, whether we lived in past generations, we are living today, or if we are still waiting for the opportunity to live here. Knowing that he loves us, that he is fair, that he wants the best for us, and that he is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, confirms that we need a prophet as much, if not more that those we lived before us. As long as His church is on the earth, it will be led by a prophet. I am greatful that our Heavenly Father has provided a prophet to guide us through times that previous prophets may have seen, but would never have been able to guides us through in the way that a living prophet does today.
