Hi I'm Michael

I'm a father of five beautiful children, and my lovely wife and I have been married for 13 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I myself come from a family of seven children and my parents have been married for over fifty years. Between my siblings and myself there are 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. I'm husband and father of five beautiful children and my family is the most important thing to me. Most of my free time is spent with my wife and children exploring the world around us. We love to go for hikes, camp, and visit the ocean. The time I have with them is the most valuable gift I have in this life. Because of this priority I made a career change early on. I was quickly climbing up the ranks of a major clothing retailer. By the time my second child was born I realized that what I wanted most was to be a part and make a difference in the lives of my children. I went back to school and became a middle school Social Studies teacher and administrator. This change has given me the opportunity to be around my children more and to be a part of their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the church, I still had to know for myself if being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the correct decision for me. I had the opportunity to be part of a large outdoor church production that taught about the divinity of Jesus Christ. I remember distincly the feelings I felt as the show ended and tens of thousands of people left to go home. I couldn't help but ask in my heart and mind and wonder if anyone in the audience felt what I felt as actors witnessed about Christ through the production. I knew for certain that what I was a part of was true and that I had a Savior who paid the ultimate price for me to be able to repent and change and return to live with God some day. Since that time, through study, prayer, and application of the teachings that I have found in the Bible, Book of Mormon, and the words of modern-day prophets, I have found direction, hope, reassurance, and forgiveness. This hope in my Savior and the direction he gives through scriptures and modern-day prophets gives me hope and regardless of the world around me, my family can find peace and happiness.

How I live my faith

Going through school and working full time was difficult because it created less time with my family than when I was working in retail. So when I graduated and began teaching we were excited because I would have more time to spend with my family. Shortly after I began my new career, I was asked to serve in positions at church that took time away from home in the evenings. At first this was difficult to face since my wife and I had sacrificed time together so I could finish my education, but as I tried to help and serve others through these positions my family and I found that we were blessed. We put extra effort into making the most of time together and found ways that we could prioritize to support one another and still serve in the church. This made us focus more on what was important to our family and spent less time waisting time on things that didn't bring our family closer together.
