Hi I'm Alana

I'm from Brisvegas, a wife to a wonderful husband, a mum to gorgeous children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Brisbane all my life and have worked in Aged Care as a Receptionist. I have been married for 7 years and my husband and i have 3 wonderful children. We enjoy getting away for family breaks whether it is camping or going to places like Rainbow Beach. We love spending time together as a family and enjoying the increased love and respect we have for each other since joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints earlier this year. I have never had much of an opinion of whether there is a God or even really thought about it prior to attending this church but i now know that He exists and loves us. It is a wonderful feeling to know that there is life after this one and our family can be together for eternity. I feel for the first time in my life that i 'fit in' a group with the same morals and standards that i have always held but have felt silly for having. I am eternally grateful for my membership in this Church and the strength it has given my family.

Why I am a Mormon

At the end of last year my Husband decided he wanted to go back to Church after 20 years of being an inactive member. I thought i would go with him to see what it was like. It was amazing the change in my Husband and the addictions which he had to forsake to go back but with his faith he did it seeming quite easy. Over the first few months i had many questions and had the sister missionaries come to teach me. They always brought with them an amazing peace and joy that would always leave when they did which bore witness to me of something different about them. I was baptised in March of this year with a little bit of uncertainty from my parents but they could see how happy our family had become and the great change in all of us. There is so much love, patience and charity in our home now that i would love to see every home feel the same. We love to attend Church on Sunday and enjoy the fellowship of our ward. It is always a huge spiritual boost when we keep the Sabbath day holy.

How I live my faith

As i have only been a member for a few months i haven't as yet been given a calling but i do visiting teaching once a month to 2 families which is always a great feeling. That is when we visit other members in the ward and give them an uplifting message and ask their families if they need any help around the home. We too have visiting teachers and our children (and us) love having them in our home. They are always happy and genuinely want to be there. We also attend different events - a few weeks ago there was a culture night which 4 people in the ward did a presentation on their culture. It was great fun and very informative. I attend a mother's group fortnightly and we have a Market day fortnightly when the ladies in the ward organise to get bulk fruit and vege from the local Rocklea markets to help with the burden of rising food costs.
