Hi I'm Charles

I come from Australia. Family is important to me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father. My wife and children are very important to me. Quality time with family is something that I value almost as much as oxygen. I have worked for a major supermarket chain for almost nine years, but look forward to pursuing a career more closely related to my real interests and abilities. What are they? Even at 38, I'm not too sure. However, I remain as interested in figures and mathematical stuff as I was back in university, so perhaps something in the finance or accounting area.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't have a religious upbringing. Other than a couple of funerals, I don't recall going into any church between about four and sixteen years of age. Like everyone who has ever lived on Earth or will ever live on Earth, my siblings and I had the Light of Christ...that is, we knew right from wrong. During my teens I began to seek "something"...but I didn't know what. I went along to a couple of churches and various church activities and youth groups. As a nineteen year old I was introduced to the LDS Church. I learned of God's plan for his children. I listened. I learned. I prayed. I knew it was true. I know it is true. While I cannot prove it, I sincerely believe that I am a far better person now than I would have been if I had not become a member of the Church.

How I live my faith

All opportunities to serve in the Church are essentially voluntary. Whether someone is the Bishop or the greeter, they are called by the Lord. While I am free to accept or reject an assignment, I am very hesitant to reject any opportunity to serve. Over eighteen years of Church membership I have had opportunities to co-ordinate, teach or lead the children, the men, and Sunday School as well as handling some of the record keeping and administrative paperwork. I have also had the opportunity to travel on assignment to speak to other congregations. I currently manage the resources of our unit as the librarian along with assisting members of the Church and my local community as a Family History Consultant. Family History is another name for genealogy. Discovering my own ancestral roots and helping others do the same is very rewarding for me. Sundays are a special day for me and I strive to somewhat keep the commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy. I am careful to ensure that my employer and managers know that my non-availability on Sundays is not negotiable.
