Hi I'm Mac

I am a student. I am a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an amateur athlete, musician, photographer, and outdoors enthusiast. I have flown planes, skydived, and generally love exploring the world and its natural beauty. There are so many ways that we can feel closer to God, and being at one with ourselves and creations are my favorites. I also find an amazing peace through music, especially when I am playing the piano, guitar, or singing. I am a college student studying Economics, which I find fascinating. I love understanding how the world around me works, why we make the choices we do, and what the effects are on us and those we love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church and its teachings are true. I was born in the Church, but that doesn't mean that I just inherited my convictions from my family. I am a feeling type of person - I feel when something is good or bad, right or wrong, understood or merely trusted - and the feeling that the church hymns bring to my heart are very different from the way I feel with other music. I remember one specific moment in my life where I was listening to a choir sing hymns about the restauration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I was especially touched. I will not forget that moment, nor the strong, stirring conviction it ignited in my soul. I was 15 then, and anything that can pierce the soul of a 15 year old boy is truly something special (after all, it has to compete with video games and sports and so many other things of great importance). I knew then that being a Mormon was not just what I was raised to be; it was the truth, and my own choice. My testimony of the Church is not based solely on music. As I understand more and more of God's plan and his love for those around me, I feel a greater happiness and peace in my life. As I follow Jesus Christ's teachings, I find that my happiness and understanding grows. As I read in the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, I feel closer to my Father in Heaven and a stronger sense of his guiding hand in my day to day choices. Throughout my life I have had more special experiences that have confirmed the truthfulness of the Church to me. More often than not, these experiences have come as I have kneeled down to pray. Our Heavenly Father really does answer prayers.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do my best, everyday. I am by no means perfect... oh most definitely not. Some of the things I struggle the most with are the "little things" of life. Remembering to study for an exam is easy, while remembering to make my bed is not. I love going to church and helping others, but sometimes reading my scriptures sort of gets lost during the hustle and bustle. Being a happy, kind, smiley type of person is my favorite way to live my faith. A smile really does brighten the day of those who are nearby, and helping lift others up is one of the best ways to live as Christ would live.
