Hi I'm Alan

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Arkansas and was a police officer. I now conduct corporate investigations for a large retailer.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife and three great daughters. I am a former police officer and have spent the past 23+ years in Asset Protection, Ethics, and now conduct investigations, for a large retailer. I enjoy Hunting, Camping with the family and SCUBA diving.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a lifelong member of the church. My Great-Grandparents joined the church in southern Arkansas. My Great Grandfather was baptized into the church in 1910 and his wife in 1919. I was one of three or four members of the church in my high school. After a short period of in-activity in the church, I met my sweetheart and she started going to church with me. We later married and one year later we went to one of our church's Temples where we, through restored priesthood power, were sealed together as a family for our time here on earth as well as for eternity. This is one of the great blessings we receive from membership in Christ's restored church. The bible tells us that there will come a famine in the land, not of food, but of hearing the word of God (Amos 8:11). We also learn in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 that Jesus Christ will not return until "there come a falling away first". That famine, or falling away came when Jesus was crucified and his Apostles were killed. The authority to teach the Gospel was taken from the earth and there was not a Prophet on the earth to keep the true believers on the right path. We were in the dark ages, the light of Christ had been taken away. The Bible says there was hope; in Acts 3:19-21 we read about a time of refreshing and "He shall send Jesus Christ, which was before preached unto you. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken... I know that that restitution, or restoration of all things that were lost when Jesus and his Apostles were taken from the earth has been restored and are found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am thankful for the knowledge that I have that families can be together forever. There is a Prophet on the earth today that directs Jesus Christ's church. We know from the Bible that that is how Christ wanted his church to be organized. Ephesians 4:11-14 tells us that he gave some apostles and some prophets...

How I live my faith

I am active in church and serve as the Clerk for our congregation. I make sure our membership records are up to date and assist our Bishop with reports and forms that he needs. I enjoy serving in whatever capacity I can help with. I have assisted for the past five years with a community emergency preparedness fair that our church has sponsored and held at our church. I also visit two families in our congregation and help see to any need they may have. These visits are an assignment, given by one of our leaders at church. Each member is asked to check on two or three families on a monthly basis to give any assistance they may need. I have found that as I serve others, it brings me closer to my Savior. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we believe that when we are in the service of our fellow man, we are only in the service of our God (Book of Mormon).
