Hi I'm Kathleen

I'm a mother. I'm a Nebraskan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After marrying my wonderful husband and graduating from BYU, we moved back to my hometown in Nebraska so my husband could attend law school and so my mother would be close to her grandchildren. As of now, I am a mother of three very busy children! I am so fortunate to be able to stay at home with them and watch them grow into such wonderful and interesting little people. My children fill my life with joy. When the kiddos are in bed, I enjoy running, maintaining our family blog, and watching "Survivor" with the hubby. When the inspiration hits, I like to organize and get a little OC about keeping things in "just the right spot"....except for my purse, which always seems to be a bit dischevelled! I will soon be starting to teach a "Mom and Me" art class at our local YMCA. I make fabulous chocolate chip cookies but struggle to get gingersnaps to turn out! We love March Madness in our home and got very excited last year when the BYU Cougars made a good run for the title! I attempt to be "crafty" but, like the gingersnaps, they often fall flat. Oh well, we can't do it all, right?!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was just two. So, basically, I've been raised a Gospel-centered home. I lost my father to cancer when I was fourteen and my faith helped to get me through a very difficult period of my life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has always made a lot of sense to me and whenever I've had a question, I've prayed about it and received an answer. Raising children is a full-time, never-ending job and it's one my husband and I take very seriously. I am grateful for the knowledge that my family can be together forever and I can be with the ones I love most for eternity. The Gospel brings peace into my life and helps me to maintain an eternal perspective so that when the day-to-day trials of life come, I know that God loves me and is aware of my needs and will help me through those challenges.

How I live my faith

Currently, I work with the young women/youth in our ward. They are an awesome group of girls who love to serve one another and do their best to be kind and good examples of our beliefs to others. Once a week, we hold an activity, along with occasional dances, camps, and conferences. Working with the youth is a lot of fun as they have a lot of energy! I also go and visit some awesome women from our ward once a month and make sure they're doing okay and offer my services. If they ever need something, they know they can call me! Outside of our ward, I live my faith by teaching my children about Jesus Christ--His life, ministry, and letting them know how much He loves each of them. We hold Family Home Evening each week and read from the scriptures and hold family prayer daily. I try and teach them to live so that others will want to know more about Christ because of their behavior. They may be young, but they absorb everything and continually amaze me with how much information they can process! I try to show kindness and give service whenever I can--all part of what I believe living my faith encompasses.
