Hi I'm Edwin

I have lived in Gilbert, Arizona, USA all of my life. I am a husband, father of three girls, and a grandfather. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love being with my family, they are wonderful to me. If I could, I would have them around me constantly. I also enjoy the outdoors and Arizona provides lots of opportunities to hike, camp and swim. I have been married to the same sweet woman for 32 years. We loved raising our three daughters and now love watching them raise our nine (soon to be ten) grandchildren. Hobbies that I have enjoyed are sculpting, photography, playing the trumpet and harmonica. I have worked for the same company for nearly 28 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to wonderful parents who were also members of the Church, so I have been a member all of my life. It has been a great blessing to me. I love the safety that the Church provides in their guidance on morals and on general ways to live your life. Even though I was raised in the Church, I had to come to an understanding and commitment on my own. It wasn't necessarily easy, but though prayer and study, I learned for myself that the teachings are true and that this is the way that God would have me live my life. I am very grateful!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the leader of one of our local congregations (ward). I am the bishop of our ward. I have served in this position for just over 4 years. As members of the Church we don't seek positions, so I didn't ask to serve in this capacity. I serve as requested by the leaders that I report to and will accept another position when asked to do so. I love serving and worshiping with the good people of our ward. They love each other and draw much support from one another. We are like a big family. I also served a mission for the Church when I was 19 - 21 years old. I had the blessing of serving in England. i love the English people. Serving a mission taught me many things including hard work, patience, and faith. Serving on a mission has blessed my life every day of my life since. I served a mission because I felt that it was what the Lord would have me do at that point. I have never regretted it. My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ grew in ways that would not have been possible otherwise. I try to love my wife, my family and my neighbors and to treat all as the Savior would treat them. I don't always succeed at that, but I continue trying.
