Hi I'm Larry

I'm a Mormon and I wish my neighbors were too!

About Me

I joined the LDS church when I was 25. I was surprised that I knew students in high school but was not aware they were Mormon, in fact I drove past an LDS Church building daily not realizing what it was. I was seeking to find a church of reverence and prayer bit at the same time wanting to be with people that were fun and i found it here. I married my wife, Dorothy, a year later in the SLC temple. I have five children and three grandchildren. I am proud of our four Eagle Scout sons and that they all have served two-year missions. I enjoy my job with an aerospace company whom I have been with 30 years. Even though we lived and raised out family in Colorado, we realize we know little of out wonderful state, and so now that the kids are gone we find time to visit it more. I am looking forward to my retirement in a few years and hope to serve on a mission too.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the LDS church in that it adheres to the teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe that daily prayer is essential to personal and family happiness. I joined the church because I was looking for a church that taught the doctrines of Jesus Christ and had a firm understanding of what his plan was. I found many things I was seeking, that we have an Heavenly father that sent his Son, that his Son is alive and involved in our lives, that he hears our prayers, and that He wants us to return to live with him. I love his covenants that if we would but obey his commandments we would be blessed- this I know beyond my wildest dreams. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me.

How I live my faith

I often join in on service projects, both for my ward and my community, because I want to feel that I can be a part of helping to keep out neighborhood schools, churches, and homes a better place to live. I participate in church meetings every Sabbath Day, often attending further leadership training to help improve my ability to help my ward operate smoothly each week in preparing those to teach and assist the members of my ward. I assist the youth and Sunday School programs, insuring they are properly staffed and are following the lesson manuals and other materials provided. I love being a home teacher and the opportunity i gives me to visit with members in their homes and assist them in their needs that they may have. Our neighbors are shy and quiet, but we know we have a good area to have raised our children and hope to know that they have Mormon neighbors.
