Hi I'm Carla

I live in the Midwest, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am an electrical engineer turned virtual HS math teacher. I love to walk and listen to music. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. After my youngest son recovered from a reoccurrence of leukemia, I decided to change careers. I completed a transition to teaching program at Marian University. I enjoyed being an electrical engingeer, but now I enjoy teaching. I am a Mom of four great children, and a wife to a wonderful husband. I have been married for 25 years. I believe that learning is a life long process. I am current working on my second master's degree in Learning & Educational Technology from Purdue University.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I wanted to get closer to God. I grew up going to church every Sunday. However, I did not have a strong relationship with God. I went to church, listen to the sermons, and went home. I sang in the choir and participated in Sunday School. However, as a college student, I began searching for a church home that I could learn and grow spiritually. I knew that I had a casual relationship with God, and that that needed to change. Since joining the Church, I have developed a deeper understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I know how important it is to continue to strengthen my testimony of Our Savior. Every Sunday, I take the Sacrement. Doing so helps me remember the covenents I have made with God, and give me a weekly opportunity to reassess my relationship with God and reconcile my life with Him. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ for over 27 years. In this time I have endured many things. I have done so because I understand and truly believe that Heavenly Father has given me my life so that I can learn and develop with the goal of returning to live in His presence.

How I live my faith

Over the 27years I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have had many opportunities to serve with many wonderful individuals. I currently voluteer with the Women's Organization as a secretary. In the past, I have served as a volunteer children's Sunday School teacher, the Children's Sunday School President, Cub Scout Den Leader, Cub Scout Committee Chairperson, and Adult Sunday School teacher. I have the great opportunity to serve my community with fellow church members in activities that include helping people in our state whose homes were destroyed by flood waters, and maning water stations during a local half Marathon. I have a testimony that my life has been blessed by the many people that I have met through these service opportunties.
