Hi I'm Mike

I'm a survivor of several "should be dead" accidents. I'm a husband and father of two, I like to stay busy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Due to the many "Should have Died" experiences, I've been relagated to the role of Stay at Home Dad. I enjoy working in the yard and trying to beautify the places I am. I don't like chaos in any form, have been known to say what I'm thinking; out loud, and am oft-times in a state of confusion. I have a head injury, enough scars to write a book and have a story about how I got each one. I don't have a death wish, neither am I afraid of dying. I always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it there's a way to get hurt - I'll be sure to find it! I believe that everything happens for a reason. I just wish that I knew what those reasons were sometimes. Every time I get knocked down, I somehow manage to get back up again. I don't know if it's that I'm determined or just dumb. Strong and stubborn or stupid. I don't have all answers to life's questions - but I do have the ones that matter most.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because this is where the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be found. I have read the Book of Mormon many times, and with each reading I receive a spiritual witness as to the truthfulness of this ancient record. After His death and ascention to Heaven from the cross, Jesus appeared to the people living in the America's. The fullness of His Gospel was taught and a record kept of this and a brief history of the people, stored and saved on plates of gold. I know, by this same spiritual witness, that Joseph Smith is the prophet that was prepared by God, to translate this ancient record and to restore the Kingdom of God on earth once again. I know that all the saving ordinances of the gospel can only be found in Christ's true church, the same structure, doctrine, principles and authority as that in the primative Church of Jesus Christ. That Gospel has been restored to the earth, with the same authority from God, to act in his name.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ. The "Golden Rule" of treating other people the way you would like to be treated is the key to a successful and happy society. When someone is in need of help, I do what I can to pitch in and give them a hand. Stuff just happens some times. God is no respector of persons; stuff happens to everyone. I recently got my hand caught between the chain and rear sprocket of my motorcycle. All four fingers were either severely mangled or severed completely. I've had four surgeries so far, with more to come. I used to be right handed. But, what's done is done. Now it's time to take inventory of what I have to work with, adapt and move forward. Life goes on; either with or without you. This has been a life lesson for me. When I was a Senior in high school, I was the passenger in a VW Bug that was involved in an accident. The other car impacted the passenger door by where I was sitting. I had a shattered femur, lacerations to my face and arms. Blood drained into my lungs and I nearly drowned. I was in a coma for 3 1/2 weeks. It was really bad. When I woke up, my world had completely changed. Tasks that had seemed "normal" to me before now seemed impossible. I lived to play baseball, and I was really good. However, because of the accident, I had problems with hand-eye coordination and depth perception. A "surgical nail" was placed inside the bone of my shattered femur. My speed and reaction time slowed considerably. My dreams of playing baseball professionally were gone in an instant. This accident became an excuse why I seem to fail over and over. I had suffered a severe closed-head inury that changed my life as I knew it. The only choice that I had made was to get into the car. I didn't cause the accident. I couldn't avoid the accident, either. Then I let the wreck control my life; what I could or couldn't do. This time, it's going to be different. I see that I'm in control.
