Hi I'm Alan Maynes

I'm a Mormon. I love to build things: Houses, Furniture, Cabins, Toys, Cars, Trailers, anything and everything!

About Me

When a small boy I started building things. Shop was my favorite class in school. Over the years I have tried building lots of different things. If someone else can do it then I think I can do that too. I am a school teacher by profession and in my spare time, especially the summers, I usually have a project going. I have built seven different homes, learning and doing the various trades: excavation, concrete, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, flooring, drywall, etc. I have loved having my kids work and learn with me. I am often found in the garage welding a trailer together, crafting a rocking chair, or rebuilding a wrecked car. One of my most recent and enjoyable projects has been building a family cabin with all sorts of activities: Zip Line, Play Ground, Barrel Train, Bowling Ball Cannon, Miniature Golf, etc. The grand kids love to play at the cabin!

Why I am a Mormon

The Mormon Church answers all the hard questions for me. No other church has been able to do that! To me the gospel of Jesus Christ puts the puzzle pieces of life together so that I can make sense out of life. There is so much of the world that is in confusion. Everywhere there are problems and thousands of opinions as to their solutions. I do not want my family to be in disarray or confusion. I love my family and I want happiness for them. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought into my life exquisite happiness. I know the purpose of life. I know who God is. He is my Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ is his son, my Savior and Redeemer. I love him, his teachings, his gospel, and his church! Living his gospel has blessed me immensely.

How I live my faith

I believe prayer changes things, so I pray often. Morning and night I kneel and thank God for his bounteous blessings. I try to count my blessings and keep my heart filled with gratitude. For me gratitude is medicine to the soul. I have taught my children to pray. Each day we kneel and thank him and seek his blessings, his guidance and protection. Over the years he has answered our prayers, many, many, times. We have come to know prayer changes things!
