Hi I'm Carolyn

I lived in 4 states as we raised our family of 8 children. I've managed a home business and taught preschool. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love learning new things, which didn't stop after graduating from college, even though I chose to stay at home to raise my 8 children. I loved the piano and when my Suzuki students had trouble reading music, I wrote my own primer, enjoying the challenge of composing simple but melodic tunes. As a trained preschool teacher, I used my skills and ingenuity to foster a love of learning in my children. Later, when my husband and I started a supply business with our friends, I managed the business end and drove a box truck on deliveries with my 4 year old son as companion. We relocated many times with my husband's work and I learned that a new place is only strange until you learn about its uniqueness, then it feels like home. In the middle of these activities, I developed severe rheumatoid arthritis which was a challenge I didn't enjoy. It meant many years of pain until new medicines brought my disease into remission and physical therapy restored many of my abilities. I still cannot play an octave on the piano with my right hand and had to stop teaching piano. But I feel grateful that now I can hold and play with my grandchildren and am still the handyman around the house. Life is good.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon home and have had a conviction from my youth that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is led by Jesus Christ and that my Father in Heaven loves me. This was based not only on the teachings of my parents, but on my own private experiences with the comforting influence of the Holy Ghost guiding and testifying to me. When I was a young mother and asked to teach a Sunday School Class, I realized I didn't have a sure witness that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. That year I studied and prayed and received a sure witness of the Restoration of Christ's church through Joseph Smith and have had a love and respect for Joseph Smith ever since and a desire to accept what the Lord asks of me like Joseph did. Living the principles that Jesus taught in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, serving in the church and reading the scriptures has brought me additional private experiences through the Holy Ghost so that I know that Jesus Christ lives and directs His Church on the earth today and that the Father has a plan for me and every one of his children here on the earth. This is a great comfort to me.

How I live my faith

Knowing that Jesus Christ has made possible for me resurrection and eternal life fills me with such gratitude and a desire to serve him by serving others. My faith in Jesus Christ motivates me to serve in whatever capacity I am called upon to fill in the church. I have worked many years with the children, teaching and in leadership capacities. I have worked with the young women, aged 12-18, enjoying teaching them as well as planning with them wholesome activities for fun and learning. At different times, for a total of 11 years, I taught a seminary class for high school students , usually at 6 am before school, either in my home or at a church building, where we studied the scriptures. I have also worked in the woman's organization, as a teacher and a leader. My love is teaching. I also live my religion by striving to ever learn more by private study of the scriptures and the words of the prophets today and by loving and serving those around me who are not of my faith. I feel that we are all brothers and sisters and each person is so valuable as a son or daughter of God. As a good neighbor, helping out at the schools of my children, and serving in my homeowner's organization, I live my faith by promoting goodness and strengthening families.
