Hi I'm John

I am a Husband and Father of 3 talented children. I run investment companies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in financial services creating investments and training International Financial Advisers. Born in Scotland, moved to England when a youth. Spent about half my married life living in Singapore. I have 3 children.

Why I am a Mormon

In the investment industry we look for patterns to help guide us in our actions. Historic patterns, market trends, resistance trends etc...etc... In my life I have consistent experiences that teach me that I am a son of God. They teach me that God has a plan for me. That God knows me as an individual. I see or feel these experiences over and over in a pattern like manner. I have many experiences which are personal answers or direction to me. One of my favourite phrases is repeated over and over in the scriptures, "Ask and ye shall receive" or "knock and it shall be opened unto you". I have asked. I have received. Not just once, but every time I ask, I receive. When I attend Church, I often get taught things that are not said or taught in lessons that day. Not crazy voices in my head, but inspirational thoughts of action I should take to improve myself or help someone else. We call this kind of teaching 'promptings of the spirit' (or Holy Ghost). Just as I want to help my children, God wants to help me and will when I ask. Why am I a Mormon? Because nobody tries to convince me this church is the correct one. Members of the Church teach me the gospel of Christ and let me ask God in Faith if what I have been taught is true. I receive the same witness that this is Jesus Christ's gospel in the same way as countless others. I have asked for myself, and I have received an answer. This church won't even let you become a member unless you have asked God yourself if it is true. As a Mormon, we invite all to learn what we believe and ask if it is true. We invite our friends. We have Missionaries willing to teach those that want to learn. We don't need to convince anyone we are correct when their is a God in heaven who can do a much better job of it. All he needs is for His children (that's us) to go to him. I am glad someone invited me to ask God for myself. So I know that no man has convinced me. My answer came from heaven.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to be active in my faith. I think it is the trying part that matters most. I don't believe God cares so much about the mistakes we have made in our lives. I believe he most cares about what we choose to do when we make mistakes and the true desires of our hearts. This Church helps me to focus on others, just as the Saviour Jesus Christ focused on others. I love the way the church gives me opportunities to serve, teach and learn though assignments given to me. Each assignment has helped me succeed in my education or in my place of work. I believe by trying my best in these assignments I have gained the experience and skills that were needed to prepare me for my current work as a husband, father and leader in the Financial Services sector.
