Hi I'm Denise

I'm a stay-at-home mother of six children. I love to read and travel with my husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi my name is Denise. I am a stay-at-home mom of six children, two dogs and 10 cats(at the moment). I have a degree in English, am fluent in Spanish, and am a real estate broker. I love to read and watch movies, preferably old "chick" flicks. I like walking through the woods or along the beach in the morning. I'm not a very good gardener but I'm trying to learn to do better. I'm an amatuer architect, having designed and helped to build our own home. I love learning new things and traveling to other countries to experience other cultures. I like to learn new things and like to learn things by reading and then trying. I still don't know what I want to be when I "grow" up but am still searching for something to be passionate about. I am passionate about my beliefs in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a sixth generation Mormon. When I was a teenager, I questioned how much of what I was taught as a child was actually true. When I went to college I had a thirst, an unquenchable thirst to know for myself about the church, so I began studying the four books of scripture that we use: The Old Testament, The New Testament, The Book of Mormon, and The Pearl of Great Price. I read and studied these books for two years. Then an incident occured in my life that made me really look at my life's activities seriously which made me get down on my knees and pray with greater sincerety and pleading with God to know these things. I was praying and pondering my standing before God and in response, I felt this overpowering flood of warmth going through my body that began at the crown of my head and flowed down to the soles of my feet. That experience let me know and feel that Jesus is the Christ. He is the one and the only one that has and can release me from the effects of sin, of sorrow, of death. He is the one the has done this for every single person that has lived or will live on this planet. Just as I know from that experience about Christ our Savior, I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God just as Moses or Abraham of old. He was the one that was chosen by God to restore His church on the earth today. If Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, then everything he did is true.

How I live my faith

I am a committee member of the Boy Scouts of America unit in our area. I teach the women in our congregation on Sundays about the doctrines of the church. I have taught children from 18 months to teenagers in Sunday school. I have taught adults about the church's doctrines. I have taught the women in my area how to make bread from scratch and how to sew. I visit with women who are ill or unable to attend church to give them support and advice and comfort from the scriptures. I pray for them and listen to their troubles. I have played the piano or the organ for our Sunday services. I have often led the congregational singing. I have taught people interested in knowing more about our church in Mexico.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the central, all encompassing docrtine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that without His suffering in the Garden of Gethsamane and on the cross that not one living person would be able to return to live with God the Father. No one would be resurrected or live again after death. Jesus Christ loved us so much that He allowed Himself to be the "sacrificial" lamb for the benefit of ALL mankind. I owe an unpayable debt to Jesus Christ for His willingness to pay the price for my sins. My heart swells with gratitude and love for the Savior of all humanity and to God the Father for creating a way to allow all those that are willing to be obedient to the commandments of God a way to return to Him. Not just one person or 100 or 1000 or 1 million but ALL men, women and children are invited to come to Christ. If more people believed in Christ and followed His teachings, there would be less suffering and pain and misery in the world. I invite anyone to come and learn more of Christ's teachings and gospel and feel of His great and eternal love for all of us. Show more Show less
