Hi I'm Natasha

I'm a Mother. I'm a wife. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home Mum, and now that my kids are getting older I'm on the verge of starting all those things I've always wanted to have a crack at. Right now I'm trying photography - whether i'll be any good at it i have no idea! But my kids are seeing me try new things and that is what's really important to me. When they were younger I coached their Kindergym class, when they were school age helped out teacher aiding at their school. But they're bigger now and, for some reason, the idea of Mum being in their classes no longer fills them with the same joy that it used to! So, I'm going to try photography, and painting, and restoring furniture and all those other ideas that have been tinkling around in my head for 15 years. And you know what? I'm kind of excited about it!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was about 3 and so you can basically say that I was raised as a Mormon. But anyone raised in the church will always tell you that there comes a time in your life when you have to choose to live it for yourself and not for your family. I hit that point when i was about 20. That was the age where i figured that i'd have a go and test this "keeping the commandments" thing for myself. I had gone my own way for a year or two and to be honest it wasn't really working out for me - i wasn't as happy as i had anticipated that i would be which confused me a bit as i'd thought that i had all the answers. What happened - strangely enough - was happiness. It's a hard thing to explain, but when i committed to the gospel and began to live it with a purpose of faith my life got better almost immediately. What i gained was a sense of surety and purpose to my life. I gained a happiness that not only made me laugh more, but that touched my soul as well. I gained a knowledge that if i try and go it alone and do my own thing, that i probably won't work out for me, but that if i put my trust in the Lord and do as He would have me do, that i will have blessings in my life that i still can't fathom and still can't even hope to be able to count. Now that i'm .... well,..... not 20......there are no doubts left in my mind. I'm a Mormon because nothing makes as happy as when i'm trying to live it's teachings. Simple as that.

How I live my faith

Right now i'm teaching the kids at church and they're awesome. What's cool about teaching the kids about Jesus is that you can almost see the connections made in their little brains when they learn something new, or when they finally figure something out. Every Sunday i get to spend time singing songs with them, reading and explaining scripture stories to them and, more often than not, hearing about their latest math test or stunning goal that they scored at footy the day before. I like it. I like giving my time because i always get something even better in return when i get a smile or a giggle that i wouldn't have been able to get without serving them on a Sunday.
