Hi I'm Neil Hokanson

I'm a dad to 5 children, devoted husband, an Educational Technology Director at the North Platte Public Schools, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into an LDS family in western Wyoming. I grew up on a cattle ranch and spent my youth growing up in the Rocky Mountains. I was taught from an early age the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His teachings. I began my service in the church as a young Priesthood holder and served my church in the Colorado Denver Mission. I am married to my beautiful wife Dianna and have five wonderful children (2 girls and 3 boys). I currently serve as the Bishop of the North Platte Second Ward in North Platte, Nebraska.

Why I am a Mormon

My membership in the church has been life long, but I have had to gain my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. Everyone must develop that personal relationship in order to believe and live the precepts of the Savior. Jesus Christ is a central figure in my life. He guides and directs me, I understand His word as I study the scriptures, and I draw closer to Him as I follow His commandments. I love that there are modern day prophets upon the earth today that are representatives of Christ. As I follow Christ's teachings I can become more like Him, return to my Heavenly Father, and be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

My daily life is influenced by my membership in the church. I try to live the gospel the best I can; although, I know I am not perfect and must continually strive to do and be better each day.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Families can be together forever. The power to seal families to each other for eternity is central in the meaning of life and in the Lord's Plan of Salvation. Show more Show less
