Hi I'm Garett

I´m a university student, I study neuroscience and Chinese, I'm a laughaholic, and I´m a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old. I am attending BYU with a Neuroscience major and Chinese minor. I believe in making every day the best possible. One of my goals is to become a surgeon and work for doctors without borders. It is my dream to be able to combine all of the things I love; my dream to be a doctor, see the world, help others and feel the satisfaction it brings. On a less serious note, I have a weekly goal that I often fail at. My goal is to get called crazy less than 5 times a week. Sometimes, laughing a lot means that you're crazy.......I'm ok with that. I love to smile, and enjoy the little things in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because being a Mormon gives my life purpose and hope. I can look forward to a better time which brings me happiness in this life. I am a Mormon because I receive daily a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Because of this knowledge I have been able to trust in God and accomplish things I couldn't do on my own. I know God helps me with all things. In this hard world it has brought me comfort that I know there will always be at least one person that loves me, God. I know that he knows me, and this is why I am on a mission. I have been called to learn the Chinese language, and I know I could not work towards this goal without the help of God. I was brought up as a Mormon, but that didn't mean that I was 100% converted. I grew up following the commandments and doing everything a Mormon should do, with just face value. Once I truly desired to know that God loved me and that the Book of Mormon was true my conversion process began. As I plead with God to know that He is there and pondered over the Book of Mormon I could not deny the peaceful feelings I felt with in me. I will never be able to describe the love I felt and the desire I had to share that with others. I can now say that I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know God loves everyone more than we will ever comprehend and that is why I am in England sharing the message of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by desiring to share it with others. Ever since I was little I have had the desire to follow prophet's words and spread the gospel to all the world. Now that I have recieved a confirmation that that desire is from God. I have fulfilled that desire as I serve in England. I want everyone to feel the love of God, and have people say they can see that I follow the example of Christ. Everyday I strive to be more like Christ by helping others. We can all do little things every day to be more Christlike. I try to look for the good in every situation and what God wants me to learn from my experiences. This strengthens my faith as it helps me to see God's hand even more in my life. It is all I can ask for really for people to see that I truly am a follower of Christ.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Garett
As I missionary myself I can say that we really just come to people's home to help them come closer to God and Jesus Christ. I know how much that relationship has meant to me and try to teach you what that relationship with God can do for you. We talk about how you can build that relationship and what you do to have more fulfilling live as you follow Jesus Christ. Of course we can't just tell you what to do, but invite you to try it out, and see the difference it can make. Show more Show less
