Hi I'm Barbara

I grew up in Kansas and have travel around the northern hemisphere and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am one of seven children and I grew up in a house that emphasized education. I have attempted to complete college three times and have not made it. I have too many interest. I have dreamed of learning to speak one of all of the major language groups and traveling to every continent. I am married and have an adopted son. I don't do housework or cook and I firmly believe in hiring someone to take care of the lawn. I fill my time with singing lessons, family history work (I feel like a detective solving a mystery,) reading and internet marketing. I have a chronic illness that takes time and effort to control. Some days are better than others. I do not have it easy but my life isn't hard either.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Catholic and thanks to my father I learned that belief in God is essential to a balanced life. Heavenly Father has given me the gift of a close companionship with the Holy Ghost. Ever since I was young, really young, I have been given impressions that have inspired me, protected me and shown me where to go to learn about life. When I needed to learn what true love is he directed me to I Corinthians 13, when I needed wisdom to Proverbs or any other life lesson he guided me well. I have always been thankful for his participation in my life. I love to talk about it and to hear how other people have found answers to their questions. I was naive enough to think that all people wanted to learn more about God. I found out that was not so but it didn't stop my desire to learn. As I grew I became a born again Christian, studied Buddhism, the Koran and Hinduism. I learn something very special from each of these faiths but not all of what I needed. It wasn't until I was in my late twenties that I met a woman who was just as excited as I was to speak and learn of Christ. She was my boss and still is my friend. There wasn't a question I asked her that she didn't at least know where to look for the answer. Most of the time she just explained what she believed. Her whole life was an open book. Thanks to her I too know where to look for answers and I still love to speak and learn of my savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

One of the most exciting and interesting ways that I get to live my faith is by helping others find out who their ancestors are. In other words I work at a Family History Center and teach genealogy classes. We are each unique but we carry influences from our families even great aunt Mable. It was amazing to me to find out about my own family. To learn of their lives and interests. Who was really the crazy one and where did my passion for travel come from.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Because it tells of Jesus Christ and his mission on earth. It gives us practical and literary examples of how to live. It helps us learn of Jesus and his teachings. Show more Show less
