Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my dear wife for nearly 30 years! We have four wonderful children. I enjoy the great outdoors of Colorado and neighboring states. My favorite activity is hiking and backpacking with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not raised with any religious activity at home. But my friends always invited me to attend church and Youth activities with them. When I started to date the future Mrs. Walker in High School, she asked if I had ever talked to the Missionaries. I had not and decided that I should. I spent the time to talk to the Missionaries and have them answer some of my questions. I liked that things that they taught me. It seemed right. So I was baptized and became a member of the Church. Today, over 30 years since joining the Church, I am still learning about the gospel and ways that I can improve myself and become more like my Heavenly Father wants me to be. As I experience the ups and downs of life, I have come to feel the tender mercies of the Lord in my life and I am very grateful for my Savior and His love for me.

How I live my faith

I attend church each Sunday. I appreciate the opportunity to feel the spirit as I take the sacrament and reflect on the past week. Attending Sunday worship service is very important to me to take a break from the troubles of the world and reflect on things that are more important, like my relationship with God and my family. I also avoid working or recreational activities on Sunday to make it a special day, as Heavenly Father has asked us to do. I enjoy serving in the Church, especially with the youth. I have been able to spend many days hiking and camping with the young men and teaching them important principles around a campfire.
