Hi I'm Merilyn

I serve my community by getting involved in civic affairs to make my town a cleaner place to live. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was married to my wonderful husband for 50 years before the Lord took him home in 2013 and I am a mother of five wonderful daughters, twenty grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. My husband and I moved around the USA in our careers, retired and enjoyed having the time to devote to 'grandma/grandpa duties' and involvement in civic affairs. I enjoyed serving seven years as a city councilman for my city and now work on service committees for that city which affords me the opportunity to serve my God, my church and my neighbors. I love people and am pleased at the good in the hearts of so many. Truly "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God". My husband and I were blessed to serve a full time mission in the Pacific Northwest for a year and I now endeavor to continue that life of service in his absence.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be an active member of the Mormon Church because of the testimony I have of the divinity of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and we have a living prophet today who leads and guides us. I was born into this Church, my parents were inactive and did not attend, but I chose to live the gospel of Jesus Christ because I gained that testimony on my knees in prayer and through study. I am personally responsible for my beliefs and testimony, so I can never deny the knowledge it gives me. I know without a doubt that God lives and loves me!

How I live my faith

Before our mission call I was blessed to serve a position in our ward to I oversee a small part of the oldest and largest woman's service organizations in the world. By teaching one another the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how He ministered to all around Him, we learn how to do the same and follow His example. We, as sisters in His gospel, visit one another in our homes to teach and see to each others needs. I have also worked in the children's and youth programs, teaching and having a lot of fun doing so.
