Hi I'm Richard

I'm a Mormon and I love it!

About Me

I am a 21 year old college student studying computer science.

Why I am a Mormon

Being Mormon has blessed my life tremendously. As I live the teachings of Jesus Christ and strive to be like Him, I have found direction and peace in this life. I know I am a son of a loving God and that my life has a purpose. I know that whatever life throws at me, I can always rely on our Savior. Life's trials are somehow managable as I choose each and every day to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through living the teachings of Jesus Christ, I can get through any problem I face in life. I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ because it truly makes me happy! I have met some amazing people that have truly become my best friends at Church. It is amazing when you meet people that you can connect with at a deeper level. The people I have met at Church are always loving and welcoming and have helped me become who I am today. Although I grew up in the Church, I eventually had to decide for myself what I wanted in my life. So I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to God to find out if the things I learned were true. I gained a witness that the Church is true through the power of the Holy Ghost. My testimony is continually renewed as I feel the peace and direction as I live the gospel every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through service. I help others grow closer to Jesus Christ and help them feel his love. I believe that when I serve others, I am truly serving God. As I help others grow closer to God, I see their lives truly change for the better. I have helped others find a greater purpose to their lives and grow closer to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I find great joy as I give meaningful service. I also live my faith through always striving to keep the commandments of God and by continual improvement. That is what the gospel is all about - becoming the type of person God wants me to become.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

We learn from the scriptures that the Lord will open the windows of heaven and pour down blessings (Malachi 3:8-10). The Lord has truly followed through with His promise. As I have had faith in this promise and paid tithing, even when I thought I didn't have enough to get by, the Lord always provided. I have found that I can't afford not to pay tithing.
