Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in North Las Vegas. I'm an English Major and I love to write stories. I'm in Georgia serving a mission and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy writing fantasy stories and drawing. I am an English Major with my emphasis on creative writing in college. I love to read. Some of my favorite books are the Harry Potter series, the Jane Austin Books (Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, etc), and the Percy Jackson series. I also love music. Country and pop are my favorite types of music. I like to sing and I'm working on learning to play the piano. I have a large family with seven brothers and sisters and I enjoy spending time with them. We play card games and watch movies together. We fight sometimes, but I know that my family will always be there for me and I'm grateful for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member, but growing up, I started to wonder if this church was true. I started praying to know. The answer didn't come immediately, it was a long time before I knew for myself that it was true. Then one day I received my answer. It was a strong feeling in my heart and I knew it was true. The reason I am a member of this church is because of the blessings it has given my family. My parents raised us kids in the Gospel and taught us the values that the church teaches. They taught us about prayer and reading the scriptures. For just about as long as I can remember we have read from the scriptures and prayed together as a family just about every night. Long before I knew the church was true, I had a strong testimony of the power of prayer. The scriptures teach us to pray to God about everything. Alma 37:37 says "Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good..." I know that Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to talk to him and he will bless us for it.

How I live my faith

A couple of years ago, my stake set up baseball teams for the children in the stake. I volunteered to be an assistant coach. I helped teach a group of eight and nine year old boys and girls how to play baseball. It was a lot of fun and I looked forward to it every week. It went on for six weeks and I wasn't paid or anything, but I always left with a smile on my face. I am currently serving a mission for the Church in Georgia Atlanta Mission. It's a new experience and I know it's important to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God loves his children and he wants us to be happy and that is why he gave us the Gospel. If we follow Jesus Christ's teachings we will learn how to be happy in the world even when times are difficult.
