Hi I'm Christopher

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Chris, and I'm a 21 year old male from Utah currently living in Washington. I enjoy exercize like trampolines, most sports, all types of music and movies, going out to eat as well as staying at home to eat. I have 3 brothers and a sister ages 15-25. I am a big pro wrestling fan and enjoy watching sports as well as playing a few video games, card games and board games. I like to read from the scriptures a long with fantacy books and sometimes history books. I enjoy learning and love to be around my family and friends and hope to have a family of my own someday. I enjoy life, I love to just be happy and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon Church) when I was 8 years old. Both my parents are members and when the church sent ward missionaries to see how we were doing and if we needed anything we were impressed to listen to the message they had. From that day I believed what they told me was true. When i was 17 i prayed to know for sure if it was true and I came to know that this Church is the only true church of God on the Earth today lead by a true and living Prophet of God and his 12 Apostles and 2 counselers all 15 being deciples of Jesus Christ today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures each day and praying daily as well. I also served my church on a 2-yr. mission to Seattle Washington, teaching others about my beliefs and inviting them to pray to know as I did if this church is true. I follow the commandments, don't drink or smoke or do any illegal things because those are things which my church doesn't condone and i know that it is lead by Jesus Christ through his modern prophets.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Christopher
We have always had prophets from Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses to Jesus Christ and his Apostles. Is it really an odd concept to believe in one today? God is the same now as then. He sent Joseph Smith to restore the teachings of Jesus Christ that were dismantled by others, like the doctrine of the Godhead, the plan of salvation (we lived before this life and will after), faith, repentance, baptism, baptisms for the dead, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and so much more that is all found in the bible and not practiced by so many chruches that believe in the Holy Bible. Now we have a prophet named Thomas S. Monson who leads and guides us today as Joseph Smith did, Jesus did, Moses did and all the rest. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Christopher
Through living righteously we can feel Gods presence with the Gift of the Holy Ghost. He guides us each day and comforts us, gives us peace and testafies of truth. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Christopher
When I first read the Book of Mormon I felt the spirit every time I read and I gained a testamony that it is true just as the Bible is and I prayed to God to know if it is and I very quickly felt the overwhelming feeling from the Holy Ghost that it is true and I should go on a mission to share that with others and that is what i love about prayer and the Book of Mormon is the promise in Moroni 10:3-5 that if we read and pray to know we will know. I read the bible shortly after and it took me almost 4 months reading 10 or so pages a day and it has helped me to know how to be a better person. I love the Bible and Book of Mormon and they bless me every day as does reading from the Doctrine and Covenants and Pear of Great Price and words of modern day prophets. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Christopher
Mormon women are awesome. Most women in the chruch i know are great, wonderful, loving daughters of our heavenly father and love each one of us. My mom is a Mormon woman and raised me with morals and character to always do what is right and to love everyone and be kind and loving to everyone. Women and Men are equal in the church and each have distinct rolls and are deffinoutly not above each other in any way they just have different rolls sometimes. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Christopher
We do read the bible both old and new testament and the book of Mormon: an other testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Christopher
If we got paid to go to church or to teach in church, corrupt men and women would lead it. We don't have paid clergy, because we don't need money to do what is right, to help people and teach about God and Jesus. In the bible we are warned not to do these things for money and that it should be a sacrifice or it's not real charity. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

Christopher
The first vision is when Joseph Smith was 14 1/2 years old and prayed to know which church to join and he saw God and Jesus Christ in person in a heavenly vision surrounded by light brighter than the sun at noon day. They told him at the time no church had the fullness of Christ's Gospel and all had corrupted teachings, some good, some bad, some true, some false, but none had all his truth or the priesthood authority that Christ gave to his apostles when he was on earth. What is faith?

Christopher
Faith is believing in somethings without a perfect knowledge of it. We must have faith in God and his son Jesus Christ. We don't see them, but we believe in them. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Christopher
When Jesus suffered in the garden of Gethsemane and died on the cross he suffered for the sins of every other person in the world born before and after him and if we do the things he said (have faith, repent, are baptized, recieve the gift of the holy Ghost and endure to the end) properly and with real intent of heart we can be forgiven of all our sins. We also must forgive others and ourselves. 3 days later he arose and was ressurected enabling us to be ressurected as well. In our own time we will all be ressurected, that is a free gift from God. Eternal life however, which is living with God forever is not free. We are not saved by grace alone, we still have to work. We are saved by grace in the sense that through his grace, he will accept our true faith and repentance, and sinners can become clean. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Christopher
only worthy member of Christ's church can go into the temple, because they must be recomended as worthy and clean by their bishop. no unclean thing can dwell with God so likewise no unclean person can dwell in God's house. The things in the temple are sacred, like marriage ceramonies binding husband and wife together forever, baptisms for the dead (not of the dead), and eternal truths are shown. (1 Corinthians 15:29; 1 Peter 4:6) Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Christopher
Not everyone can be or has been baptized by someone with God's authority, and once they reach age of accountability, which we know to be 8 yrs old they can be baptized, but if they die and are never baptized. someone in the church will be baptized for and in behalf of them in a temple and receive the gift of the holy Ghost and the dead person in the spirit world, can then accept the ordinance or reject it. Christopher

Christopher
The Holy Ghost along with God the father and his son Jesus Christ are all 3 Gods that make up the Godhead. the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit and Hevenly father and Jesus Christ are both perfected imortalized being of flesh and bone. Christopher
Women do not hold the priesthood because God put it that way. Women still have an important place in the Church. Men hold the priesthood. Women have their own organization called the Relief Society, which helps those in need. It has grown to be one of the largest women’s organization in the world... They have their own offices, their own presidency, their own board. They reach to all units of the Church everywhere in the world. Men hold the priesthood, but women are the companions of the men and help just as much in the church as the men do. Men and women are equal in this church. Show more Show less

Christopher
We should have faith in God the eternal father of all people who lived, live and will live on this earth. To have faith in him we must show him the evidence of our faith and in doing so we can grow closer to him and strengthen our faith. We must also have faith in his son Jesus Christ the savior and redeemer of mankind and his atonement. We can be forgiven if we have faith in them and follow their commandments, including baptism by the proper authority and other commandments he has given us. Show more Show less

Christopher
The prophets of the church have told every 19-26 yr old male in the churchthat God has commanded them all to prepare and serve a mission, so those members who are male are commanded to, but always have the freedom to choose (like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden were commanded not to partake of the forbidden fruit but still had the agency or choice to do so) and females and older couples are strongly encouraged to. What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Christopher
After we die we all go to the spirit world Jesus taught about in the new testament. we wait their in either spirit paradise or spirit prison depending on our righteousness or wickedness until we are resurrected and get our bodies back in perfection like Jesus did. We then go to a kingdom of glory depending on our worthiness and righteousness. the top kingdom in the celestial kingdom which we must have faith, repent, be baptized like Jesus was by someone holding the proper priesthood authority and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which is also talked about in the new testament. We must also endure to the end and keep the commandments being valient and righteous and the celestial kingdom is where God and Jesus live and we can live forever with our families. the middle kingdom is the terrestrial is for those who don't follow all of those things mentioned above but aren't bad people. the lowest kingdom is the telestial kingdom preserved for the wicked adulterous murderers and other sinners Christ talked about in the new testament. All three are kingdoms of glory and none are too bad, but obviously the celestial is the best because its where God and Jesus live. Becasue of the Atonement and resurrection of Christ we will all be resurrected and recieve a kingdom of glory. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Christopher
We believe God is our Heavenly Father and is perfect, is all knowing, all-powerful and perfectly just and merciful. He has a body of flesh and bones like ours except he is immortal. He is a seperate being from his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. They all 3 have the same purposes, but are distinctly different entities. God is a loving God and know each of his children perfectly. He created us in his image and created a plan for us to have joy in life and strives to help us to return to him one day and be like him. He was once like us and live a mortal life and went throught the same trials and is our loving father in heaven whom we can all be like and loves us so much he sent prophets and gave them commandments to give us scriptures and other commandments to be safe and happy. What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Christopher
We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God he was born of Mary just as the bible says and also the book of Mormon says. His life was dedicated to serving God the father and he performed the atonement, suffering for each and every sin of each and every person who ever lived, or will ever live so that if they accept him, repent of their sins, are baptized with proper authority (or accept someone else doing if when they die) receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost and endure to the end like the bible says, they won't have to suffer even as he did. Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Christopher
The first 12 apostles were not the only apostles in the old testament. Matthias was the replacement of Judas and late Paul was called as an apostle. Paul says that the church is built upon prophets and apostles. If we didn't have Prophets and apostles at the head of the church we wouldn't function the way we do and the church wouldn't have the great leadership it does. Jesus calls his prophets and apostles and we follow them just like in days of old. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Christopher
In the bible Abraham paid tithing and Malachi says to pay tithes to the church. We pay 10 percent of our income to help pay for churches and temples and scriptures and other things for the church to use for spiritual purposes worldwide. It only makes sense for the members to pay for things that the members use as a whole. There is no paychecks for our bishops or apostles or the Prophet. Nobody pays the leaders or preachers and i believe if they did then the leaders would do it for the wrong reasons. Show more Show less
