Hi I'm Shayla

I'm a nurse, a dance teacher, and my most important and best job being a mother of 3! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah and moved to Arizona 4 years. I have 3 children, and my oldest (6) is a cancer survivor!! So we have been through a lot over the last several years with her health. I have my nursing degree and my favorite area to work was post-partum, however I am currently just working as a stay at home mom. Being a mother is the best job for me! I also have danced since I was 4, and teach a young girls dance class now. I love being outdoors: swimming, boating, skiing (snow and water), hiking, biking, camping, and anything else I can do outside with my family. I also love to read when I have the time. I love going on vacation and my 2 favorite places I have been are Hawaii and Disneyland/world!!

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons I am a Mormon. I was born and raised in the church and my testimony has had a chance to grow over the years. I have always known that my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ love me. But, until my daughter was diagnosed with cancer and literally on death's doorstep, I had never had to put my entire trust and faith in my Heavenly Father and Savior. This was a very hard thing to do, but when I was able to finally surrender the peaceful feelings that came were indescribable! I know that for a good year my family had to be carried by our Savior, and I have no idea what we would have done without the gospel in our lives during that time! Without the knowledge that our family was sealed for time and all eternity and no matter what the outcome of this terrible sickness we would still be together forever, I know I would have just crumbled. I know without a doubt that we have a loving Savior and Heavenly Father who are always there for us as long as we are willing to ask for there help! I know that we have a prophet on this earth today who receives inspiration to lead and guide us through the trials and temptations that are all over in todays world! I know that my Savior suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for my sins and that if I am willing to repent I can have my sins forgiven! I am so thankful to my Savior for all he has done for me, so that one day I can return with my family to live with my Heavenly Father and him again.

How I live my faith

I am blessed to have the wonderful calling of being in charge of all the children in our ward. I help to organize and teach the fun activities and lessons for all children ages 18 months to 12 years. Children are such sweet innocent beings. I learn so much from them on a daily basis. It is such a pleasure to beable to spend so much time with them! I get to teach on Sundays and help participate in activities during the week as well. I have been able to help with the Boy Scouts of America program for our young boys and have truly loved learning about this awesome program. It is such a great way to help our young boys today turn into wonderful young men. It is such a joy to see these children as they start out as toddlers and grow to be young men and women and see the great decisions they make along this path of life!
