Hi I'm Benjamin Lim

I am Chinese but born in the Philippines. Joined the church when I was 18 and served a mission at 20 and never regretted it.

About Me

After joining the church I was blessed to go to Brigham Young University-Hawaii. Before graduating college I met my future wife. She is Caucasian from California. We got married in Los Angeles temple. We lived in Provo, UT so my wife could finish her degree at BYU-Provo. We had 2 kids in UT before moving here in Washington. We had 2 additional kids. Currently I have 1 girl and 3 boys, all love the church and love serving. I worked at Microsoft for 10 years and now working for Boeing. I am also very active member of the local chapter of the Church College of Hawaii/BYU-Hawaii alumni board that my wife and I started in October 1998. The chapter is going strong with dedicated board members and faithful and supportive members.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Catholic and Buddhist faith. I was content with my religion. I had a dream of becoming a Catholic Priest so I could serve God. However, my belief changed when I was introduced to the Mormon religion. I was hesitant at first to listen to the missionaries but not to embarrass my brother for inviting them, I went and listened. I was intrigued to hear about the visitation of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father to the young boy Joseph Smith. I was touched to know that there was a living prophet on the earth and when they showed me the picture of Spencer Kimball, I felt within me that he was a living prophet. I was shocked to know that I was insulting our living God by worshiping idols and saying memorized prayers. I was fascinated by the visitation of Angel Moroni to Joseph and the translation of the Book of Mormon. My curiosity brought me to ponder what I learned and pray about them. I could still remember the feelings I had when the Holy Spirit confirmed to me that everything that I learned was all true and they are from God. It's been 30 years since I was baptized and have not regretted my decision. I am grateful for my brother for inviting me to listen to the missionaries. I love this gospel and I know it's true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every Sunday to renew the covenants I made when I was baptized. I go to the temple regularly with my wife. Fulfilling my church responsibilities wholeheartedly. Reading scriptures and praying everyday with my family as well as individually. I sustain my church leaders by following their counsels and guidance. I love to share my conversion story and my testimony. I love to serve because it makes me happy. I also make sure that my children do the same thing and emphasize the blessings of obedience to the commandments. I am grateful for my eternal companion who loves me unconditionally and supports me in my church responsibilities.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Benjamin Lim
As you read the scriptures everyday you will feel closer to the promptings of the Spirit, your prayers will be answered, and you will understand better the power of the atonement. Jesus Christ died in order for us to find hope. We were placed on this earth to gain experience and part of that is to face some trials. Through reading the scriptures, it would make your burden lighter. I know that the scriptures contain revelations given to prophets and apostles for our own good. I am grateful because every time I read them I find peace and comfort, knowing that God truly loves me as his child. Show more Show less
