Hi I'm Greg

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m 47 years old; I have a beautiful wife of 25 years. We have three children, two girls and one boy. Our oldest daughter is 24 with two wonderful children of her own (how we love those grand kids!!) they live just a few miles away. Our second daughter is 22 years old also married and living in Reno while our son in law attends medical school, no kids for them just yet but I’m very sure our third grandchild will be on the way sooner than later! Our youngest is a boy; his is 17 a junior in high school, a fantastic student and working hard to save money for his mission and college.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn’t grow up with any real religious upbringing, as a boy we would go to church for weddings and funerals and that was about it. What little I knew about Christianity was very limited, I knew some of the basic Bible stores and had a basic belief in God and Jesus Christ but not much beyond that. I always wondered why the stories in the Bible always spoke of the heavens being open, God speaking to man through Prophets and Apostles. I never really understood why Christian religions were so different now in our day compared to the church established by the Lord Jesus Christ when he lived in mortality. Why would God lead and guide his people through life then but not now? That was a question that was always on my mind as a youth. I always felt very alone in the world, I couldn’t really figure out who or what I was or why I even was alive and breathing. One day the missionaries from the church came knocking on the door wanting to teach me the fundamental beliefs of the Church. I was so amazed to hear what that had to say! They taught me about a loving God and his beloved Son Jesus Christ. They taught me about God’s plan for me, they taught me about who I am, why I’m alive here on this earth. They taught me about the purpose of life. They taught me that God does love us and he does communicate to us in our time through living prophets and Apostles! The very moment I heard their message I felt as though I had known it all my life. They continued to teach me for several months and with every new concept they taught, I felt an inner peace and love from the Lord I had never felt before! I simply knew what they were teaching me was true! The knowledge I gained from those two missionaries through the spirit of the Lord changed my life forever. I felt like I knew God, and felt his love for me. I felt his presents in my life and knew he had a special mission for me in this life. I learned at a tender young age that my life had real meaning and purpose.

How I live my faith

My faith is not just something I do on Sunday, it really if how I live my life. Yes I attend church every Sunday with my family and while that is a very special even sacred, for me my faith is truly a way of life. I currently serve as the Scout Master in our Boy Scout Troop sponsored by our ward. Serving in Scouting has given me an opportunity to work with the youth of our Church and community over the past several years. I really can’t put into words how fulfilling and rewarding it is to be in a position to mentor a group of boys, to see them grow and develop into outstanding young men! Serving in this capacity truly has been and is a blessing in my life. I also have three families I’m responsible for watching over, in the church it’s called “home teaching”. It’s how we as a people watch over and serve each other. Through visits at least once a month it’s given me an opportunity to get to know these families, to be able to be there for them. We also have the opportunity to discuss gospel principals and share the teachings of the Prophets and Apostles.
