Hi I'm Jamie

I live in Oklahoma. I am a Pediatrician, wife, and mother of 4. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Pediatrician in Oklahoma. My husband and I have 4 children, one of which is currently serving a mission. We love the outdoors, sports, hunting, music, art, reading and traveling. My husband and I volunteer for the local fire department and he is a paramedic as well. I have served in primary and relief society. I love to draw, play the piano, play soccer, run, fish, hunt, read and just about anything that has to do with my kids!

Why I am a Mormon

When my husband and I were married, he was a member but was not active. After several years of trying many different churches he stumbled across an article in the paper about one of the temples. He had me read it, and then took me to the nearest one. That night he asked if we could try his church. We both desperately wanted to find a church for our family that we both felt at home and at peace with. He contacted the local ward bishop and we visited the church. The missionaries began to come teach all of us. After every lesson I became closer to knowing this was the church for me. A few short months later my husband baptized our 3 boys, but I was not ready. I could not put my finger on why. A good friend that we had known for many years called one night to say hello and after talking she made a statement that will stick with me forever. If there is one part of this church that you know to be true in your heart, then the rest must be true as well. Without one link, the rest could not happen. After her phone call, and a few more prayers I was ready and my husband baptized me not too long after our boys. That one thing for me was Eternal Families. I had known since I was a child that families were meant to be eternal, and from that the rest was easy. Since then we have been sealed in the temple. I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and restored the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that we have a living prophet today. I know that families can be together forever and I saw these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

As I have said before, I am a pediatrician and provide guidance for children and youth in my office as well as the ward and community. I have served in our ward in the children's program, cub scouts, boy scouts and in the women's group. I help organize monthly enrichment activities for the women, do visiting teachers to members and help with the youth programs when possible. I try to do what I can to serve my community, guided by faith.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Jamie
Church services are much like many other churches. We sing hymns, have prayer, speakers that give talks and we partake of the sacrament (communion). Everyone is welcome to our church services and meetings. We love visitors. In our worship service we have everyone attend, no matter the age. There is not a nursery provided. We feel the family should be together at this time. Show more Show less
