Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a Husband, Oldest Child, Student and Explorer. I believe in improving, hard work and being proactive. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm someone who likes to understand how things work, and I really enjoy learning about the world around me. I especially enjoy reading, and read just about everything I find. I probably have more books than I currently have room for. I am a collage student at Dixie State University, and love it! I'm working towards becoming a paramedic so that I can try and help those in need. I try to serve in my community when ever I can, especially when I can make a difference. I'm the oldest in my family, and I absolutely love my family. I have the best family I can ask for, with all sorts of talents and personalities to keep life interesting. I'm also a Husband and adore my lovely wife. I am human just like everyone else in the world, but that doesn't stop me from trying my hardest to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm always looking to see how I can improve myself and then try to inspire others to be there best self, regardless of who they are. Everything I believe and act upon is founded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the very center of my life that helps me become the man I am today, and who I will become in the future.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. I've come to see how blessed I am from it. I'm able to find direction in my life by careful application of Gospel Principles. As I come to understand the Atonement of Jesus Christ I have grown in joy and strength. Faith in Christ has helped me rise up to a new life. Everything in my life has been affected by the gospel. I have seen how powerful the gospel really is and opened my eyes to a new way of thinking. There is no doubt in my mind that Christ's Church has been fully restored. I know that God lives, and that we are his children. I have felt his love in my life. I know this Church is true and has helped me progress in my life. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior and that he took upon our sins and mistakes so we could return to live with our Father in Heaven. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that it was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and through him the true Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth again. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet and leads and guides this church today. I know that we can pray to God and through The Holy Ghost we can know the truth of all things. I do not worry about the future because I know that if I am faithfully and obedient to the commandments of God I will be saved. I invite all to read the Book of Mormon and to ponder it's message.

How I live my faith

First, I try to apply the things I have been taught in the Gospel to myself. I don't expect anyone to live higher than I already am, but encourage them to do their very best. Second, I serve to the best of my abilities in all my church callings whether it be in leadership or simple callings. I've also served as a missionary for my church, to which I credit a lot of my growth. Third, try to live as the Savior did, though imperfect, and try to look out for my neighbors in need. I use the atonement in my life to help me improve myself and see others how God sees them.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Joshua
The Book of Mormon, believe it or not, was not written by Joseph Smith. Like the bible, they are the testimonies and revelations received by God's Prophets here on the American Continents. These men, as inspired by God wrote down the things we need to know to return to God's presence. The Prophet Mormon, compiled the many records into one record and abridged it to what we now have as "The Book of Mormon". He added words to the record as needed. His Son, Moroni, was the last prophet and finished the record then hid them until it was time to restore Christ's church back on the earth once again. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Joshua
Everyone and anyone is welcome to join the church and participate in everything we offer. No one is judged by who they are because we believe all men are children of God and should have the opportunity and privilege to hear the gospel in their own language. All worthy men in the church can hold the Priesthood. Although women cannot hold the priesthood they can be greatly blessed by priesthood holders. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Joshua
The family is one of the most important elements in the Church. Families have been central, through out time, in forming nations and leaders. Think of it as a miniature school. In a family we can learn from each other and shape ourselves into the people we need to become. In the Plan of Salvation, the family plays an important role in bringing God's children to earth and then guide them towards eternal life. We can be sealed to our spouses and families in the Temple so that we can be with them after death. Eternity is a long time, but if we have our family right beside us, it will make it so much sweeter and not so lonely. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Joshua
The Savior taught to serve all men. It is selfish to only help ourselves and those of our faith. We are encouraged by our church leaders to serve everyone, even if they do not belong to our faith. I enjoy helping everyone because I get to meet other people and learn more about the world around me. And it brings a good feeling to me when I know I have helped someone in need. Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Joshua
The Book of Mormon acts as a second witness to the Bible of Jesus Christ. It does not follow Jesus Christ's ministry in Judea like the Bible does. The Book of Mormon is focused on the Americas and God's dealing with his people there. The Bible is set up in the Judea/Palestine area and the people of Israel living within that area. Both are powerful books that have built me as I study them throughout my life. Both will bring us closer to Christ and shape our lives as we apply the principles found with in their pages. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Joshua
Careful study of the Scriptures and Diligent prayer has helped me know that there is a God. As I am studying I feel like I am learning along side our Creator as I prepare for future events. This knowledge has filled an empty void in my life, and brings comfort to myself when I am alone. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Joshua
Preparedness is an eternal principle. This shows our faith in ourselves and in God. When we are prepared we have nothing to worry about. I like that feeling. I am always preparing myself for what may be in the future. I believe God gives us EVERY opportunity to prepare ourselves for the future. However! When we do not take advantage of these opportunities, we are left in frustration when it's gone. This included physical, mental, intellectually, and most importantly . . . Spiritually. Be Prepared, or prepare now. Time goes fast. Show more Show less

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Joshua
Our bodies are gifts from God. Because of that we are responsible in carrying for our gifts. The Savior taught that if we misuse our stewardship we cannot receive more. As we care for our bodies God blesses us with stronger bodies, a clear mind, and inspiration from the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Joshua
The temple is where members of the Church can go and make sacred covenants with God. We believe the temple to be the house of God and we go there to feel close to him. We learn more about God and his Gospel from temple attendance. It is a special place to be. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Joshua
Being a parent is one of the most honorable positions to hold on this earth. Their importance surpass all earthly things. Parents have the responsibility to raise our children on sound principles. Our children are children of God, as we all are. This knowledge should lead us to want to raise our children to the best of our ability in love. A mother and a father are vital to the family. Without that father and mother figure, it is hard for many children to grow. I often look at my parents and pour out my heart to God in thanks for what they have done for me. Parents need to work together to teach their children how to live good wholesome lives so that they may be happy. Someday I will shoulder on the responsibility of raising children of my own. This is because I understand how important it is, and I want to serve my Lord and Savior. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Joshua
Pornography has the power to ruin men and women. No one is immune to it's infective mental degeneration. You only have to look once to be hooked. I know exactly what it does to people and why it's such a dangerous activity. It robs you of your respect of other people and will motivate you to do horrible things. It rewires the brain and takes years to restore it to where it needs to be, but the scars never leave. Take my word for it and stay away from it. If you are suffering from it's effects, find help and get away from it! Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Joshua
How we dress, act and speak send a message to people about who we are and what we hope to become. When we dress immodestly, speak foul language, and act like someone we are not, we paint a picture in peoples mind that we are something they want to avoid. We must teach our children to dress, speak and act appropriately if we hope for them to become better people. If this is ignored, delayed, or left to the state, we can expect our children to become the scum of humanity. If we take the time to guide our children in the paths they need to follow, they will become influential figures in history. Show more Show less
