Hi I'm Mauricio

I am a first generation college student. I love to dance. I love my family. I'm a Missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and at the age of 14 my parents and I moved to Orem, UT so I could have better influences and greater education. In High School I developed a love and passion for dance that only continued to grow as the years went by. As I started to get older, I always debated whether or not dance was a good career for me. After a year of college I realized that although dance was one of my passion I could make an impact in the world I live in through political and governmental organizations. I now am a Political Science major at the University of Utah. I left on a two-year LDS mission and found another passion: languages. Consequently I am also a French major. I love my family and friends. I love teaching, learning and helping others find happiness in life.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents first investigated the church when I was 8 years old. I was baptized only a couple of months after my parents, and although I was young, I know now that it was the best decision I could have made. Growing up in rural parts of California I gave into the worlds standards, but when my family moved to Utah my life started to change. As I investigated the church more and more I was able to obtain a testimony of my own. At the age of 15 I decided for myself that I would serve the church as a full time missionary. As a missionary, I learned that being Mormon has not only been a blessing for myself but for my family and friends. I am Mormon, because I know that I can live a happier life if I chose to follow the commandments of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by showing others that just because I am Mormon doesn't mean that I "have" to obey all these rules. I chose to obey the commandments God gives us to live a happier life. I may not understand the purpose of all things, but I do know that as I have anchored my faith in Jesus Christ I've had unforgettable learning experiences. I live my faith, through the motions of dance, I live my faith by loving and caring for others, I live my faith by serving the Lord for 2 years as a full time missionary.
