Hi I'm Michelle Meyers

I grew up in Texas, and now live in Washington. I'm a happy wife and mother of five wonderful children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother of five children. I'm a stay-at-home mom. Some of my hobbies are singing, running, and reading. I like doing these things both on my own, and with my children. I especially enjoy singing folk-songs and rounds with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 8 years old. Both my parents were Mormon and so I grew up going to church every week. Although I was happy to be baptized, my full conversion to the gospel was still in the making. I remember in my early teen years, I went to a church girls' camp for one week. Our last night was reserved for sharing our personal conviction about God. As my friends' spoke, I felt like my spirit was waking up. I felt the Holy Ghost give me a feeling of peace and happiness in my heart. The Holy Ghost confirmed to me that my friends' words were good and true. I desired to speak my own convictions, but needed to spend the next few years gaining them! I remember at another church camp, kneeling in prayer by myself, in my room. I earnestly desired to know if God was real and if He heard my prayer. I felt an amazing love and warmth fill my soul. I knew God loved me. I knew I was a daugher of God. I knew He heard my prayer. I knew that God's love allowed me to feel exquisite joy. My conversion continued to evolve over the next few years. Through prayer, I learned God could bless me to feel His love for others. I also learned by experience that Jesus Christ died for my sins. I learned that repentance works. I felt the Savior's cleansing power in my soul. Also, as I studied the Bible and Book of Mormon, I felt closer to Christ and freer from temptation. I learned that God has called prophets in this modern day to speak as His mouthpiece. Following their counsel has brought me both safety and happiness. The Lord has blessed me to learn these truths in my youth. Now I'm in a different stage of life as a wife and mother. There's a poignant question in the Book of Mormon that asks, "...if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?" Yes, I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My husband and I take our five children to church every Sunday. They look adorable dressed up in their Sunday best! They are learning that Sunday is a special day. I play the piano when the ladies meet during the 3rd and last hour of church. Also, I often attend our church choir with my three older children (they like to come especially when a treat is promised afterwards). My husband and I have made a habit of giving away "pass-along" cards. These are little cards which offer a free spiritual DVD or book of scripture with a phone number to call. Also, if the caller would like, I like to get to know my neighbors and find ways to serve them when they need something. I try to be available to help out.
