Hi I'm Kim

I'm a Mormon, living and learning in Colorado.

About Me

I have a quote hanging on my wall,"Mothers of little boys work from son up to son down" and I wish it were true :) Maybe it doesn't apply to having four sons. At this point much of my time revolves around the feeding and rearing of my growing boys. Thankfully, I enjoy baking, food preserving, gardening and sewing. The great outdoors is another favorite of mine especially with my husband and our boys. Reading a good book while swaying in my hammock is a sweet treat as well. A couple of years back at a parent teacher conference, this teacher and I connected because as he put it "we are truth seekers". That opened my eyes to an understanding of my core-I do seek truth and hope to always do so! I would be remiss if I did not share my favorite-connecting with the ones I love. These connections take many shapes but always without a doubt my spirit is lifted by the good people I call my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Looking back I cannot remember I time I did not go to church, I was raised attending my meeting and participating in activities. I was baptized and confirmed a member when I was eight by my father. But until I was the only Mormon around and explaining what that meant did I start to understand the blessing that was mine-I was raised with the gospel in my life. Never did I wonder if Christ was real, or if prayers were heard, or if there was a plan for me (granted I am still discovering the plan piece by piece). I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ speaks to my heart and my mind.

How I live my faith

Like many parents of school aged children, I am involved in supporting programs at the schools my children attend. I have taught Sunday classes to the youth and small children. For the last six I have been working in Emergency Preparedness/Food Storage. What this means right now is that I am coordinating cooking classes and seminars for those who want to learn such skills in our area. I also visit a few ladies, accompanied by my friend, to check in and connect with them. My family and I try to welcome our new neighbors with some bread and jam. We like to share our garden produce with our neighbors and friends in the summer months.
