Hi I'm Mary

I grew up in a close family where I learned to love music and nature. I'm a wife and a mother to three active boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family moved to the Pacific Northwest when I was a child and it's where I really feel at home. I love music and the arts. I like being outdoors and enjoying the beauties of nature. My husband and I have three boys. Most of my time is spent with them and I love it. When my husband and I do get out we like to attend sporting events, concerts and plays. I grew up with music and drama as a huge part of my life and I still love singing with my family and at church. I also enjoy trying new things, it's helped me to find other things I like to do, such as, baking, sewing, wakeboarding, papercrafting, hiking, gardening, and our latest adventure, raising chickens.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church and I was taught from birth to love God and that He loves me. I learned the beliefs and teachings as I grew up and was baptized when I was eight. I was encouraged by my parents to gain a testimony of my own and find out if the things I had been taught were true. My family visited Nauvoo, Illinois when I was fifteen and I was able to gain an appreciation for and a testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. When I was sixteen I read the Book of Mormon on my own from cover to cover for the first time. I prayed to know if the things it taught were true. I felt the confirmation that it was. By following the teachings of this gospel I have found happiness in my life. I have felt the love of my Savior during hard times. I love that in this church we believe in revelation, through prophets on the Earth today, and also personal revelation from the Holy Ghost, so that we can find answers to our everyday questions for ourselves. I know this gospel is true, it strengthens me and my family.

How I live my faith

As a family we attend church meetings together on Sundays and since this is a church of volunteers we have had the opportunity to serve in the church in so many ways. I have taught music to children. I have worked with the 12-18 year old girls, meeting with them during the week for fun and uplifting activities as well as for classes on Sundays. For the past year I have been able to work with the adult women of my ward. I have learned so much from them as I have strived to help meet the temporal and spiritual needs of these women and their families. There are always ways to serve and by serving others I have felt my own burdens lightened.
