Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in Northern Utah, lived in Norway, I am a school teacher, husband, and father. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently working as a Mathematics teacher and pursuing a Masters Degree. When I'm not studying or working I love being at the lake, boating and playing volleyball. Growing up I played a lot of basketball and participated in Track and Field. I have to admit there is nothing quite like throwing a javelin. I am the proud father of a young boy and husband to an amazing woman. Family is by far the most important thing in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Well, I grew up going to the Mormon church and participating in all the activities. When I was about 14 I decided to I'd better find out for myself if what my parents had taught me was true. I had the Book of Mormon around my entire life but hadn't read it by myself, for myself. There is a promise in the Book of Mormon that says, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things" I've always felt like God heard my prayers so I decided that I would read the Book of Mormon and ask Him if it was true. My answer didn't come overnight. I read every night before I went to bed and then prayed to know the truth. One night as I knelt praying I had a thought come into my head that said, "Think about the last little bit while you've been reading the Book of Mormon." As I stopped and thought about how my life was going since I started reading I realized that I was happier and that I felt God's love more in my life. When I thought this I had a spiritual conformation that what I was feeling was real and from God. Just like James says in the New Testament, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God ... and it shall be given him." That promise was fulfilled that night. From that day forward I have tried to search out truth about Christ and His teaching. I know that we are God's children and he wants us to seek out His truth. I have found truth in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow Christ's teaching every day. I try to do this by studying the scriptures everyday, being kind to everyone, and trying to live a Christlike life. I've found that if there is something that I'm wondering about concerning the Gospel, I can always ask my wife, parents, siblings, friends, church leaders, and of course my Heavenly Father in prayer. I've served in many ways in the Church as a home teacher, where I go with another member of my congregation to visit families and individuals in my congregation, a activities co-chair, a teacher, ward mission leader, and as a full-time missionary for the Church in Norway.
