Hi I'm Cory

I'm a student. I'm a musician. I'm an athlete. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from BYU and am now doing a master's degree in computer science and business at the University of Rochester in New York. One of my greatest passions is making the world a better place, and I hope to do that in as many ways as possible, through my career, church service, and simply living life. My hobbies include soccer, running, mountain biking, gymnastics, piano, and singing. I love my family, including my 7 brothers and sisters and their families. Yes, we have the typical, huge Mormon family!

Why I am a Mormon

My two most important goals are to return to live with God and to bring as many of my brothers and sisters with me as I can. Although belonging to a church is not necessary to have a relationship with God, I have found that belonging to a church helps me accomplish both of these goals. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it is the true church. My testimony started because of the teachings of my parents, the examples of my older brothers and sisters, and other friends and leaders of the Church who inspired in me a desire to know the truth. With that desire, I have studied the scriptures diligently and felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me the truthfulness of their words. I love the word of God contained in the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and the words of modern-day Prophets and Apostles. As the Lord said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39). These words have led me to believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer. Through faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I have received a remission of my sins. I have felt my Savior’s love. I know without a doubt that I am a son of God and that Heavenly Father loves me. The Lord’s church—the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—has been the vehicle through which I have experienced such great joy!

How I live my faith

Like everyone, I am trying to find happiness in life. I have found that the only way to true happiness is turning outward to lift others, especially my closest family and friends. Despite my deep desire to fulfill the Savior's commandment to love my neighbor as myself, I fall short A LOT. My faith has grown most when I have turned to the Lord for help in being the best man I can be. I exercise faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement by choosing to follow Him and then relying on His grace to give me the strength I lack.
