Hi I'm Derrick

I grew up in Michigan. I love sports, especially football and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I love football, golf and music. I'm married and a father of 4. I'm in banking and have an associates degree. I am a convert to the church through my wife and her family.

Why I am a Mormon

I began visiting the church when I was 12 years old because I was invited by who is now my wife and her family. I became intrigued with the gospel and the simplicity and structure of the church. I loved the fact that the church was set up exactly as the primitive church and that Christ is at the head of the church. It took six years of visiting on and off but I finally asked to meet with the missionaries. I am so grateful for the restoration of the priesthood and the keys that have been restored which allowed for my baptism. The gospel has changed my life and I know that Jesus is the Christ and that our Heavenly Father lives and loves all of His children. By following the commandments and the covenants made with our Heavenly Father we can receive many blessing beyond our comprehension. I am so grateful for my wife and her family for inviting me to church and for remaining patient over those long six years. I am grateful for missionaries and for their sacrifice and willingness to preach the gospel. I am grateful for Joseph Smith and for his diligence and faith to inquire of the Lord and then to endure to the end. I am grateful that we are lead by a prophet today and for his sacrifice and great example. I am blessed to serve Him and His children and will continue to do so until I leave this life and return back to Him again some day. This is my testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the second counselor to the Bishop in my local ward. I work with the Primary children, the youth and the missionaries. I love to serve the members in our ward and especially love serving the Lord. I live my faith by trying to always be mindful of the Lord in all that I do and in the example I portray to those around me. I take my faith with me everywhere I go, to work, coaching sports, to my family and friends. By living my faith, I have had many who inquire about my beliefs which opens the doors to share the gospel.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being Mormon is just like being like anyone else with the main difference being that we are in the world but not of the world. We work, we worship, we like to have fun. Being Mormon is a blessing in the fact that we have the fulness of the Gospel to bless us in our everyday lives. I have been blessed beyond description for having become a Mormon. Show more Show less
