Hi I'm Janell

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Cali and live in WA ~ been a member all my life!

About Me

I grew up in a small town in California ~ have always been a member of the church ~ I'm a mom of 4 children who we raised in Washington ~and am an empty nester! I love music, dancing, going to concerts and plays, and being a grandma! I love being home in the quiet of the most beautiful place on earth (WA state!) but I also love to go to the city to watch people and whatever may be happening there! I love serving in the church and have had a few different callings over the years! My husband and I own a franchise ~ so we work together. But I am also looking to work part time somewhere else and/or go back to school to get my degree....who knows how it will end up!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 5-6 generation Mormon on both my mom and dad's side of the family. I look back and realize that I have ALWAYS known that God is there ~ which is a blessing to me. I went to church when I was young, obviously, because my family was LDS ~ and I believed in the teachings ~ but it wasn't until I left home at age 19 that I truly became CONVERTED. I stepped away from the normal activity of the church for a short time and found myself struggling. I remember one day crying out to Heavenly Father in my mind "help me" I didn't even get on my knees ~ just said it in my mind. The Bishop in the ward I was in at the time called me in to get acquainted with me. He looked at me across his desk and said "I don't know why, but I feel as if you are my daughter" I started to cry and told him "I know why" ~ He helped me get back on my feet and I have LOVED being a member ever since ~ it has not been without bumps in the road ~ but OH so worth it! The principles of the Gospel are TRUE and when lived bring a peace that is hard to explain, especially when you feel it in the middle of a trial or hard ship! I am grateful for that love and support! The joy of KNOWING and FEELING the FORGIVENESS of the Savior is the most amazing thing in my life and I am grateful EVERY day for my Savior! I KNOW I cannot do this life without HIM!! GOD DOES LIVE!! I love Him and thank Him throughout the day every day! In Jesus name I testify!

How I live my faith

Like I said I have served in various positions in the church. Right now I get to work with the young women who are 12-18 yrs old! There are about 23 of them that come regularly to meetings. We plan fun activities with just the girls, or once a month combined with the boys of the same ages! This is an amazing group! They like each other and for the most part very supportive and accepting of each other! I have learned so much from them! My husband and I visit a few ladies in the church ~ one is paraplegic and owns property that she donates to veterans who need a place to come and heal from their war experiences etc..we have a work party scheduled to cut, split and stack the wood she will need for the winter months! She is an inspiration because she does so much and is very spirited ~ a reminder that we are NOT our bodies! Our church group will be participating in a community service project that is held every year around 9/11 time. It always feels good to do something to improve where you live! I try very hard to be a good example to others ~ I came to realize a few years ago that I was not as courageous as I thought....a testimony that the Lord will let you know your weaknesses if you ask Him ~ but I have been able to make changes in my life since then. I'm working on being a stronger follower of Christ in all ways! I know it takes a lifetime and beyond, so I try not to be too hard on myself along the way!! I am grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the principles and guidelines that are taught. I have seen what can happen when those principles are NOT lived!
