Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Father of 4 beautiful children. I have been married to my wonderful wife for over 20 years now. We met as teenagers and she has been my best friend since that time! I served a mission for the LDS church in Indiana. I am a sports fanatic! I often tell people that if the sport has a ball of some sort then I have either played it or enjoy watching it. I continue to this day to play basketball, tennis, golf, racquetball, softball and an occasional game of football (although those days are winding down). I also enjoy attending various sporting events.....particularly Pro football, basketball and baseball as well as college football and basketball. I love the ocean. My family and I make it a point to get to the beach for a week every year to relax and spend time boogie boarding and body surfing.

Why I am a Mormon

Simple. I want to be more like Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints provides me with the teachings and opportunities to help me become more like my Savior. The Gospel gives me hope and peace in this very challenging and difficult earth life. It helps me to know what my purpose here on earth is. It provides me with opportunities to serve others. It helps me to be selfless and not selfish. The Gospel also helps me to understand that I don't have to be perfect now and that when I make mistakes the atonement of Jesus Christ can provide me a way to be forgiven for those mistakes. I'm also a Mormon because the Gospel teaches me that all of us are children of God and that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us. This brings me great comfort and helps me to look at others as my brother or my sister. In short, I'm a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ answers 3 important questions for me: Where did I come from? Why am I here? and Where am I going? The answers to these questions give me that crucial hope and peace that we are all desiring.

How I live my faith

I try to live my Faith by simply treating others as Jesus would have treated them. The great thing about the Mormon church is that it provides me with countless opportunities to serve. I have spent much of my adult life working with the young men (ages 12-18) in the church. This has been a rewarding experience for me. It has helped me "to forget about myself" as I have been on many camping trips and as I have taught Gospel lessons to these young men. I have learned to love these young men as I have served them. These experiences have helped me to become a better Father and Husband.
