Hi I'm Charity

I'm a wife and stay at home mom to 3 wonderful boys.

About Me

I love being a stay at home mom. I have three great boys and a baby on the way. I'm a certified Elementary Ed teacher, but I'm taking a break to stay home with my kids while they're young. I love to read! I've always loved poetry and classic literature. Now I mostly read "chapter books" with my kids. :) I love snuggling up and sharing an adventure together through a book, one of my favorite things in the world. I love exploring things with my kids. Anything from cooking, gardening, visiting an aquarium, anything that sparks the imagination and gets the wheels turning in their little brains. That's the teacher in me I guess. Plus I'll do anything to tear them away from their Star Wars obsession for a few minutes here and there! haha. We've moved around a lot as a family for my husband's career and it's been fun to see different parts of the country. I still miss the East coast beaches and NOTHING beats New York pizza!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that He is my personal Savior. He is my daily companion and friend. That's not because I'm perfect, that's because I'm very imperfect and need his help so very much. He helps me be patient, loving, compassionate, hard-working, happy and most of all content. I feel so much peace and love when I am close to him. No matter what life brings I know I can meet it's challenges with Jesus Christ as my help and strength. The things I've learned and continue to learn through my membership in the church are the tools I need to be close to my Savior. It also gives me a much needed weekly reminder of the things that truly matter in life. When I get home from church I feel so revived and so strong, like I can meet any challenge as long as I keep doing the things that keep me on the path to Heavenly Father and His Son. I also love studying the scriptures and hearing other people's thoughts and feelings about them. Their faith strengthens mine and helps me see things in a different perspective. It is wonderful to be surrounded by others who are trying to live a life of faith and meaning. I have felt so loved by the members of the church and truly feel at home there. My membership in the church also blesses me with lots of opportunities to serve others. This is a great way to find a sense of purpose and brings so much satisfaction and joy. It really helps you appreciate what you have and it makes you so happy to forget yourself for a while and do something to bless someone else's life. I love being a member of the church. I think the most important thing in life for each of us is our own personal relationship with God. Being a member of the church has helped me come closer to Him and has blessed my life tremendously. It never feels like work or an obligation, because you get so many blessings in return that you just feel happy and grateful to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

I have enjoyed so much the many different organizations that I've been involved with in the church. Right now I work with the 12 and 13 year old girls in our church. They are so fun! Their enthusiasm is helping me stay young! :) We are currently working on planning a huge fall celebration for several hundred people in our community. All of the youth in our ward ages 12-18 will be involved in planning and carrying out the event. We'll have lots of games, food, and fun. It will be a lot of work, but the kids learn so much and have such a sense of satisfaction from serving our ward and community. I love teaching these girls at such a crucial time in their lives. We talk about the gospel every week and we talk about all the practical implications that these eternal principles have in their lives. We talk about all kinds of moral standards including dating, modesty, seeking out good entertainment and avoiding certain media, for example. Most of all, we want the girls to have their own understanding of who they truly are: a dearly loved child of God. We want them to know that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them and watches over them and is concerned with the details of their lives. We want to teach them the things they need to do to feel His love and guidance in their lives every day and ultimately teach them how they can return to him someday. These girls know they are never alone. The associations these kids have with each other is another great part of the program. They learn together on Sundays in church, then during the week we enjoy activities together. These can be service oriented, or learning a valuable skill, or sometimes they are just plain fun! It's great for them to be around other kids who are trying to live a good, moral lifestyle and to realize they're not the only ones out there.
