Hi I'm Dale Addison

I am trained in Choice Theory and Reality Therapy by Dr. Glasser. I am an award winning children’s book author and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lifelong seeker of truth and work to be a positive social change agent in the world. I am trained in Reality Therapy which is the treatment arm of Choice Theory by Dr. William Glasser. It took ten years for me to finish my four year college degree from the University of South Florida. I took an early retirement from the United States Postal Service. In athletics, baseball was my first love. I also ran what would now be called the 400 meter sprint and I also did the pole vault. I returned to school after my postal career and obtained a master's degree in psychology. I continue to pursue my study of mental health through the study of the restored gospel. My first grade teacher told my parents that I had a problem with perfectionism. She said I would have problems later in life if I did not resolve it. Yet the Savior commands us to “be ye therefore perfect even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect,” (Matt. 5:48). How relieving and glorious it was to learn the resolution to my dilemma. Perfection is possible but only in eternity and only because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. In the meantime, I do my humble best to follow the perfect example set by the Savior and to follow His plan. My wife and I have a blended family of five children and six grandchildren. We believe it is part of God's plan that we live as a family forever. We know it is possible through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Together we live the plan of salvation and invite others to know it is true.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me to do the right thing and to use good manners. My parents taught me to think critically about controversial subjects. My Dad and I had very deep conversations about the concepts of time and space. No questions were ever off limits in my family. The earliest memory I have that God answers prayers was when my Grandmother Levi died. Her death was very traumatic for me. I was fourteen years old. My Grandmother Addison gave me my first Bible at my request. At my first counseling position, I eagerly accepted the invitation to think about the concepts offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The nature of God as our Heavenly Father and what happens after this mortal life are deep concerns of mine. The concept of what happened before this mortal life was also important to consider because my wife and I have talked about the possibilities. Because I was raised to be an independent thinker and to be respectful of other people, I welcome a conversation about life's questions. I had experiences to help me to know how God answers my prayers so I accepted the invitation to pray about what was true. I knew when I received my answer from God that He is my Heavenly Father and that Jesus is His only begotten Son born in the flesh. I know He has a plan for us. It is called the Plan of Salvation and the plan is only possible because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is so important for me to know what that means and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My family is important to me. Helping my family, my friends and other loved ones is a passion with me. I am so confident in the Plan of Salvation that I live the plan to the best of my ability. I invite people to share their plans of success or plans of happiness with me. Helping them live and improve their plans is what I do. Inviting them to make a better plan is a joy for me. This is true in family, friendly, and professional settings. Whenever it is appropriate, I ask them to compare their plan of success with the Plan of Salvation. Another name for the Plan of Salvation is the Plan of Happiness or the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe the teachings of the Lord will lead me to help many of God’s children on this earth and help me to learn from them as well. I believe all the people on the earth are God’s spiritual children so this means everyone is included. I lead a Sunday school class that includes people who are learning about the gospel plan. I am able to share this experience each Sunday with my wife who is one of the best teachers I know. I love to invite people to live the gospel and find out for themselves that it really works. I make this invitation because I have a testimony that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is truly the Lord's plan of happiness and it's true. I know God lives. I know Jesus is the Christ. My testimony allows me to invite you to do as I do: ask God in the name of Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost will make the truth known to you.
