Hi I'm Debra Schindler

I'm a Mormon. I have four children. I am homeschooling my last two and will begin attending PT college in the fall.

About Me

I am a mother of four children, 2dau and 2 sons. I have homeschooled them for the past 7yrs. My oldest two are currently attending community college. I am going to begin part-time college courses this fall as well as continue homeschooling. I love genealogy and mind puzzles such as crosswords and suduko. I love to read and spend quiet time. I struggle to keep my home in order and clean but still play and enjoy my kids. Time is so short. I have a son with Epilepsy that we are trying to manage and juggle that with being 16!

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful for Christ in my life. I know that the principles taught in the Mormon church are true. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and love me. They are interested in helping me be the best I personally can be. They help me to grow and give me strength through my trials that stretch me and give me more compassion and bring me closer to Them. I know that Joseph Smith had the same desires I have to be a good person. He was looking for the path to do that when Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to him and used his talents and humbleness to reestablish Their church back to the earth with the proper ordinances and priesthood powers of ancient time. I know that, just as in olden times, there is a prophet on the earth. Just like Moses and Abraham, he is them mouthpiece for Jesus in guiding His church here on earth. The Book of Mormon is a true account of people who inhabited the Americas many years ago. I have read it and prayed to know of it truth and I have no doubt that it is a true book that was translated from ancient script and given to us for our benefit and learning. I know if you give it a chance it will truly change your life and open up new truths to you mind.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church is, currently, Relief Society President. That means that I am responsible for all of the sisters in my ward and community. I am involved in being sure their spiritual, financial, emotional, etc needs are met and any issues are addressed. I am in charge of Relief Society meetings on Sundays, which is a meeting just for women. We teach gospel principles and help strengthen the sisters to meet challenges they are going through and make them stronger in Christ. I coordinate service among the women such as making blankets to send to Africa or dinners to take to a sick sister or food for a funeral. I love them and serve them however I can. I try to be an example of a Christ-like person always no matter who I am with. I try to be unbiased and open-minded and hope for the same in return. I try to raise my children to be responsible and productive members of their community. I teach them basic principles and goals.

What is the Relief Society?

Debra Schindler
Relief Society is an organization for women. It teaches self-reliance, child-rearing, parenting skills, etc. It teaches gospel principles and how to implement them in our lives. It is an organization of service to each other and throughout the world. Service projects are organized continually. They provide help to one another through monthly visits and other support such as meals to the sick or housecleaning to the elderly, etc. They try to do those things that Christ would do to ease burdens and provide support to each other (spiritually, emotionally, financially, etc).
