Hi I'm Travis

My family is very important to me, I'm studying marriage and family therapy, I love rockin out on my trumpet, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Colorado and have been there most of my life. I love it there. Our family is "typical Mormon sized" with five kids and two dogs. I'm the oldest and I love my siblings very very much. My family is really close and so are our relatives. We go visit my Moms side of the family at least twice every year in Utah where I have over 25 cousins. As you can see my family is very important to me. I go to Brigham Young University and plan to graduate with an undergraduate degree in Family Life sometime around April of 2017. I have loved my time so far in college because of the friends I've made and the things I've learned from my daily challenges there. I hope to one day become a Marriage and family therapist. Relationships are at the core of my favorite things to do. I love sports, and outdoors activities, or even quiet things like games and reading, but I don't enjoy them as much unless I'm dong it with people I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church and for much of my life relyed on the testimony of my parents that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. But as I grew I came to an age, as all boys do, to want to know for myself why I believe what I do. I started to pay attention more at church, read the Book of Mormon, and sincerely pray for guidance from my Father in heaven as to what He would have me do. As I did these simple things I felt my relationship with God grow. I have learned because of personal challenges to rely on Him totally for everything because I know that He cares about me infinitely and knows what I need rather than what I want. I love being a mormon because I now see God as someone who loves me and wants to bless me as much as He can, not someone who punishes me for being imperfect. And I now understand that some of the greatest blessings He gives me are challenges. Because without them I wouldn't have learned to rely on him so much. I know that He has that same unconditional love for all of His children and is no respecter of persons. I know that His commandments He gives are there to protect me from sadness and despair. I know that true and lasting peace and happiness is what He wants me to have and the wonderful gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the path for me to achieve that.

How I live my faith

I served a a two year mission in the beautiful area of Seattle, Washington. As a missionary I gained a deeper understanding of how important and how powerful the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ really is. I've seen peoples lives do a complete 180 because of what I was able to share with them. I do all I can to feel closer to God and have a greater measure of His spirit with me by praying often, deeply studying the scriptures daily, and seeking guidance daily as to what God would have me do for Him this day. When I do these things with all my heart, might, mind, and strength I feel God leading me daily to those who truly need this message of peace, hope, and love.
